What if Israel’s God Answers Prayer?

A main theme of my newest book, Blessing Israel, is the coming merger of true believing Christians and true Jewish believers. Our friend at Dry Bones Cartoons did it a gain. He speaks as an Israeli Jew, and seems to recognize the same thing I see. Here is a prophecy from Paul, the Apostle.

Western media and politicians cannot see religious belief as a reality. They cannot understand the battle as being beyond politics and economics. They do not understand and cannot conceive that many Muslims view Jewish prophecy as literally real, and possibly a threat to Islamic dominance.

A case in point is the history of one of the gates of the walled city of Jerusalem; the “Golden Gate.” For many centuries Jewish and Christian sages have taught that the long awaited Messiah will enter Jerusalem through that gate. Apparently to prevent the entry into Jerusalem by the prophesied “King of the Jews”, the Muslims walled-up the gate in 810. When Christian Crusaders took the city they reopened the gate (in 1102). When Saladin conquered Crusader Jerusalem in 1187 he had the gate walled-up again. Later, the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent rebuilt it, together with the city walls, but it was again walled-up by Muslims in 1541, and it has stayed that way until today. Who Owns the “West Bank”?

Today’s commentary is a compelling fact sheet on the legal ownership of Judea and Samaria in modern Israel. I have reprinted it in its entirety for accuracy. Enjoy!

The ancient lands of Judea and Samaria, east of Jerusalem, have been part of the Jewish homeland for 3,000 years. Today Arabs demand all of it.

Judea and Samaria, the land where Jewish ancestors Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rachel, David and Solomon created Biblical history, was renamed the “West Bank” during Jordan’s brief, illegal 19-year occupation. Today, some 380,000 Jews own land and live in the territory, yet their rights are denied by Palestinian Arabs.

What are the facts?

“Israel has an irrefutable legal claim to these territories backed by the 93-year-old Mandate for Palestine.”

Following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, the Allied Powers, which were the only parties with the right or power to resolve ownership of vast tracts of the Middle East, allotted to the Jewish people the land west of the Jordan River, including Judea and Samaria. This resolution, made at the San Remo Conference, was effected through the Mandate for Palestine, which was adopted by the League of Nations in 1922 and assumed by the United Nations in 1948. This document, based on “the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine,” secured “the establishment of the Jewish national home.” Nothing since 1922 has changed the legal status of those internationally binding documents.

Much of the land allocated to the Jews, including most of Judea and Samaria, was taken from them by Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and Syria following Israel’s War of Independence in 1948, when the Jewish state was attacked by those Arab nations—the latter three of which were also established by the Mandate for Palestine. Jordan illegally seized the “West Bank” and east Jerusalem, and expelled all Jews from these Biblical homelands.

In fact, the territories of Judea and Samaria have never been part of any nation except the Jewish state. In 1967, when it was again attacked by Arab armies, Israel defeated the invaders and recovered the occupied “West Bank” from Jordan. It should be noted that during Jordan’s occupation of the “West Bank,” no Arab Palestinian movement emerged in favor of independence. Indeed, it wasn’t until Israel reclaimed the land and Jews returned to their ancestral home that claims of Jewish “occupation” were raised.

Today, most land in present-day Judea and Samaria is not privately owned, but rather is unsurveyed—without proven ownership. Israel claims about 30% of the public land in the territory. However, the Supreme Court of Israel has ruled that unsurveyed land in Judea and Samaria can be acquired by Arabs who cultivate it consistently. Arabs, through deed and cultivation rights, own about 95% of private land in the territory. Jews, however, are not granted similar rights, so Jewish farming on unsurveyed land does not entitle Jews to private ownership. Nonetheless, Jews own about 5% of all private land in Judea and Samaria.

Israel offers land for peace. Israel has a clear, millennia-old historical claim to Judea and Samaria, and it reacquired the territories defending itself against an aggressive war. In addition, Israel has an irrefutable legal claim to these territories backed by the 95-year-old San Remo Resolution. Nonetheless, recognizing that its claims are disputed by Arab neighbors, the Jewish state has shown uncommon willingness to share the land.

Starting in 1967, following the Six-Day War, Israel has offered to give up almost all the land it controls in the “West Bank”—plus a Palestinian capital in the eastern part of Jerusalem—in exchange for peace. Unfortunately, despite numerous such land-for-peace overtures by Israel, including two most recently in 2000 and 2008, the Arabs have consistently rejected them.

Not only do the Arabs reject any Jewish claims to land in Judea and Samaria, they have also insisted during peace negotiations that the territory be made judenrein—free of Jews. Worse, many Palestinian Arabs, such as the terror group Hamas, maintain that the entire land of Palestine—from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, including all of Israel and the “West Bank”—belongs only to Arabs. Today, official Palestinian maps do not depict the state of Israel.

How will the dispute over Judea and Samaria be resolved? Over Israel’s 67 years, it has become a world-class cultural, economic and military power. Its standard of living is among the highest in the Middle East. Clearly the Jewish state is here to stay. Yet despite its strength, Israel has shown willingness to negotiate and exchange land for peace. Sadly, this willingness has not been matched by Palestinian leadership. Until such negotiations are consummated, the “West Bank” will remain in dispute—a no-man’s land in which claims of ownership remain cloudy and contested.

While Israel has clear rights to ownership of Judea and Samaria—also known as the “West Bank”—it has taken a practical position, offering to trade those rights and that land for peace with its Arab neighbors. As of yet, however, tragically, no Palestinian leader has been willing to compromise his people’s unrealistic expectation that all of Palestine—from the river to the sea—belongs only to Arabs. Overview: The idea that God would single out one people to bless and favor has been the source of much controversy from the beginning. It started within Jacob’s own family with that famous (or infamous) coat of many colors. Who knew at the time, the great intrigue that would result not only with Joseph, but ultimately all nations.

My goal in writing this little guide to Christian Zionism is that you would lay it down after reading the last chapter concluding that you, too, are a Zionist.

This will involve learning the true Biblical idea of God’s purpose in blessing Israel and the definition of Zionism according to the Bible text. It must also serve to expose the many false definitions of Zionism, which has become a curse to many.

To find the correct understanding we look not to man’s definitions, but to God Himself. We want to know how He defines Zionism. What was in His heart? Did He favor a people only to reject all others? Or, did God set out to raise up a people to show the world what His love and favor produces, and invite them to join? The saga continues throughout human history, but concluding now, in this generation, with the most exciting climax possible.

The Political Pope

I spoke of my preference for mercy over justice recently, but even justice has been redefined; and truth is now unknowable. Pope Francis says Palestine is a state and the Vatican has concluded a treaty with “the state of Palestine”. However, read my lips: “There is no state called Palestine anywhere on this planet.” The Pope is using the enormous force of the Vatican to declare a state that does not exist.

Vatican Signs Historic First Accord with ‘Palestine’ After recognizing PA as a ‘state,’ Pope Francis’s supposedly apolitical Vatican signs treaty with ‘Palestine’ before it does so with Israel. The accord, a treaty covering the life and activity of the Church in Judea and Samaria, was the first since the Vatican made the controversial step of recognition in February 2013. It also recognizes the PA as having authority in eastern Jerusalem, the undivided capital of the Jewish state.

There are a number of things wrong about this decision. Here are three:

1. It violates the Oslo accords. Signing international treaties unilaterally is a breach of the 1993 Oslo Accords which created the PA. Consider that Israel legally became a state in 1948, but the Vatican only began diplomatic relations in 1993. This was 45 years after statehood! Yet they give diplomatic recognition to “Palestine” before statehood! In contrast to its rush to sign accords with the PA, the Vatican has had diplomatic relations with Israel since 1993 but has yet to conclude an accord on the Church’s rights in the Jewish state which has been under discussion since 1999. Truth is lost.
2. It is unilateral, leaving Israel completely out of the discussion. “Israel cannot accept the unilateral determinations in the agreement which do not take into account Israel’s essential interests and the special historic status of the Jewish people in Jerusalem,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon

By endorsing the “1967 borders” the Vatican joins the unjust attempt to rewrite history by ignoring Israel’s victory in the Six Day War. When the world talks about the ’67 borders they mean before the war. How convenient. Of course, there were never any legal borders at all in ’67, only the 1949 armistice lines. Truth is lost.

3. It ignores Palestinian persecution of Christians. The agreement appears to ignore the fact that Christians have been systematically persecuted under the PA, which has caused the Christian population in Bethlehem to nearly disappear from 60% in 1990 to 15% last year.

According to Justus Reid Weiner of Hebrew University, in July 2012, a court in Jericho sentenced a Christian to a month of imprisonment for eating in public during Ramadan. “Five other people were also arrested for the same conduct. The chairman of the PA Supreme Court for Sharia Law stated: ‘We have to monitor the streets, and severely punish anyone who eats in public during Ramadan. This is the responsibility of the security forces…I call upon other non-Muslims to be considerate of Muslims’ feelings.”

This is in sharp contrast to Western societies, where the majority is usually called upon to be considerate of the minority.

“The Palestinian Land Law prescribes the death penalty for selling land to Jews. Various Christians have testified that it is also enforced if land is sold to Christians. Several Christian owners have been extorted to give up their land to Muslims. In practice, the legal system in the Palestinian territories provides them no recourse,” said Weiner. Israel National News Truth is lost.

So what must we conclude from the Pope’s decision? (But for time and space, I could add recent US Supreme Court decisions.) We must conclude that truth is lost. Isaiah saw the problem over 2,500 years ago.

For our transgressions are multiplied before You, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them: In transgressing and lying against Yehovah, and departing from our God,

Speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. Justice is turned back,

and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. So truth fails, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Isaiah 59:12-15

Rise of Arab Army!

Acceleration: While you were watching basketball, the Middle East has turned a new dark corner. Saudi Arabia has attacked Yemeni rebels and now Egypt is joining along with Jordan. This might be a good thing if it was just about Yemen, but the next turn could be deadly for Israel. The armies that are massing will be getting good practice that could turn against Israel. Look at this headline from Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria.

Nasrallah: Israel Should be Targeted, Not Yemen Hezbollah leader blasts Saudi Arabia for launching airstrikes against Houthi rebels, saying it should lead a campaign against Israel. Speaking in a televised speech, Nasrallah said the military campaign should be directed at Israel, not Yemen, adding that if the warplanes were directed towards Israel, Hezbollah would join in.

This could be the trigger that leads to the end of the Psalm 83 War. Stay tuned! Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is now openly talking about getting nukes because of Obama concessions to Iran.

The Israeli elections concluded with a stunning victory for PM Benjamin Netanyahu. The last polls had him behind by four or five seats and he won by six, a swing of 10 seats! This was despite (or perhaps because of) President Obama’s attempt to influence the vote toward the liberal Herzog. Even the New York Times reported the growing acrimony toward not only the PM, but Israel itself.

White House Antagonism Toward Netanyahu Grows The White House is stepping up its antagonism toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu despite his victory in this week’s elections, signaling that it is in no rush to repair a historic rift between the United States and Israel.

Obama-Netanyahu Hostility is ‘Unprecedented’ in History Historian reveals the key clashes between US presidents and Israeli prime ministers, and why none have been as bad as the ‘new low.’

In just two weeks, major shifts have occurred that may accelerate the timing of prophetic fulfillment regarding God’s promises of Israel’s restoration and favor.

The Remnant of Israel Saved “At the same time,” says Yehovah, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.” Thus says Yehovah: “The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness—Israel, when I went to give him rest.” Yehovah has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you. Commander of the Straw Man Army

President Obama is adept at using a “straw man” to shift an argument, from the real issue to one he can easily refute. It is a form of sleight of hand. He has made an international incident over the invitation for Israel’s Prime Minister to address a joint session of Congress on March 3.

A straw man is a common type of argument and is an informal fallacy based on the misrepresentation of an opponent’s argument. To be successful, a straw man argument requires that the audience be ignorant or uninformed of the original argument. The so-called typical “attacking a straw man” argument creates the illusion of having completely refuted or defeated an opponent’s proposition by covertly replacing it with a different proposition (i.e., “stand up a straw man”) and then to refute or defeat that false argument (“knock down a straw man”) instead of the original proposition. Perhaps my thoughts will inspire someone to produce an analysis of the President’s use of the straw man. Today I want to use the example of PM Netanyahu’s speech to Congress. Speaker Boehner is accused of some horrific “breach of protocol” for inviting the PM without informing the White House. Even if conceding a breach occurred, it certainly did not rise to the level of an international incident (which the President has created). Leaving aside the contentious relationship the President has developed with our closest Middle East ally, there is a simple answer to why he chose this battle at this time.

It is not about protocol. It’s about Iran. The US is forcing a bad agreement that will allow Iran to still end up with nuclear weapons. This threatens the very existence of Israel. Netanyahu will make the case to Congress. Given their recent advances in ICBM technology, now the US is in range.

Congress wants to vote more sanctions against Iran. The Democrats want to postpone the vote till after the negotiations on March 24. The President does not want Congress or the American people to hear the Israeli objections till after the deal is done.

A second straw man was also used. The President says the speech is too close too Israel’s elections. Yet, the National Field Director of the President’s 2012 re-election campaign is now working for the Israeli opposition, in an effort to unseat Prime Minister Netanyahu. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Top Obama Aid Working to Defeat Israeli Right

President Obama, VP Biden and Secretary Kerry all refuse to even meet with the Prime Minister while he is in Washington. Now, Vice President Biden will not even attend the speech, because “The Vice President’s office expects that the vice president will be traveling abroad during the joint session of Congress,” a US official said.

UPDATE! Biden Meets Herzog in Munich A day after announcing he would boycott PM Netanyahu’s speech, Vice President Joe Biden met Israeli opposition leader MK Yitzhak Herzog in Munich. Not influencing the election???

Finally, there is a growing boycott of the speech by Democrats. What in the world is going on with this Administration? Is the Democratic Party turning against Israel?

Dems confront Israel, raising Netanyahu speech stakes

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. In that day,” says Yehovah, “I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in Yehovah of hosts, their God.’ In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a fire-pan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place—Jerusalem.” Zechariah 12:2-6

Is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that “fiery torch”?

Israel, Here We Come!

Jesus is a Jew

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day January 27, 2015. Please take at least a moment to remember all those who perished at the hands of the Hitler death machine. Six million Jews and at least five million others were murdered. Yet, God will redeem and has redeemed their suffering as recorded in Psalm 102 (see below).

Yad Vashem, the Jerusalem Holocaust Museum now has an exhibit by Jewish artist Moshe Hoffman that must be seen. It is the picture above this article. His message is profound for Jews and Christian alike. Jesus was a Jew. If Jesus had lived His earthly life during World War II in Europe, Hitler would have dragged Him down off the cross and taken Jesus to the gas chamber and incineration furnace. Jesus was a Jew. He is still a Jew. Christians believe He is the Messiah and is coming soon. When He comes, He will still be a Jew. He is the seed of David of the tribe of Judah.

Please take a moment to meditate on the first half of Psalm 102, the Holocaust Psalm:

A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before Yehovah.

1 Hear my prayer, O Yehovah,

And let my cry come to You.

2 Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble;

Incline Your ear to me;

In the day that I call, answer me speedily.

3 For my days are consumed like smoke,

And my bones are burned like a hearth.

4 My heart is stricken and withered like grass,

So that I forget to eat my bread.

5 Because of the sound of my groaning

My bones cling to my skin.

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness;

I am like an owl of the desert.

7 I lie awake,

And am like a sparrow alone on the housetop.

8 My enemies reproach me all day long;

Those who deride me swear an oath against me.

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,

And mingled my drink with weeping,

10 Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;

The correct Hebrew translation of “generation to come” is actually “generation last”, which is the title of my second book. We are the generation that can understand Psalm 102. Selah!

Psalm 83 Answer to Prayer

For years I have proclaimed the truth of the Psalm 83 War. The first section of the Psalm describes the circumstances leading up to the war, which we can see is now the case in real-time. This is the next war in Israel and the countries attacking are specifically named in middle third of the Psalm. This war is distinct from the Gog and Magog War of Ezekiel 38-39 which also names countries involved. These two lists are of different countries with no overlapping. These are two separate wars. Once you grasp the difference it will settle the issue very easily. Another difference is that Ezekiel says Israel is living in peace in un-walled villages at the time of that invasion, which is certainly not true today.

“You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— “to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations,” Ezekiel 38:11-12

So what is the answer to prayer from Psalm 83? You will find it in the last third of the Psalm.

Deal with them as with Midian,

As with Sisera,

As with Jabin at the Brook Kishon,

Who perished at En Dor,

Who became as refuse on the earth.

Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb,

Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,

Who said, “Let us take for ourselves

The pastures of God for a possession.” Psalm 83:9-12

The prayer request was simple, that God would deal with Israel’s enemies the same way He did with the Midianites in Gideon’s victory. Yehovah God caused the enemy of 135,000 soldiers to fight and kill each other till they were routed by only 300 men of Israel.

This is exactly what is happening today in the Middle East. Shia fight Sunni, Egyptian against Egyptian (Isaiah 19), civil war in Syria and Yemen, and of course the ISIS barbarians in Iraq and Syria.

Therefore, we must live the lesson of Gideon. This battle will be won, not by our might or power, but God Himself will fight for Israel. We must pray to Him for the victory. He is the victory!

I Joined the Dry Bones Family

I just joined the Dry Bones family and you can, too. This has been my favorite Israeli political cartoon since my first visit to Israel in 1984. It was in the Jerusalem Post daily paper. Yaakov Kirschen makes a compelling case for fighting antisemitism with cartoons in what he describes as “a post literate world.” (Click here to join!)

The Problem: Israel is being boycotted, delegitimized, and defamed!! There is now a massive rise in antisemitism world-wide. Support for Christians and Jews in the Middle East has collapsed. Western campuses are hostile to our younger generation. We are shocked and frustrated. The situation is dire, urgent, and obvious, but an effective response seems to elude us.

Let’s Begin:The beginning of an effective response needs to be an understanding of “post literacy”. This was once a bi-polar world. People were either literate (they could read and write) or they were illiterate (they were unable to read or write). That world is gone. The targets of our messages are now post literate. (they can read and write but they prefer not to). Letter writing has disappeared. Emails beyond a few lines are ignored. Texting, tweeting, and the rise of the Instagram are the evolutionary result of this post literacy.

Dry Bones:The increase in importance of the cartoon is yet another step in this evolution. . . . And, in part, explains the wild popularity of Dry Bones cartoons in the digital world. If you are a Zionist you have probably shared or received Dry Bones cartoons.

Ebola in Prophecy

FEAR NOT!

Do you think Ebola is in the Bible? There are many references to pestilence and disease. Ebola is not there by name, but in principle. God has often allowed pestilence to come into a people, even His chosen people, when they defy Him with their abominations. It is His judgement against their incorrigible sinfulness and rebellion. Yet, He also offers a way out through repentance, a turning back to His ways. My concern is in this context for America. Here are my thoughts on the Ebola crisis.

Our President said it would not come here. He was wrong.
Our President said it would not spread. He was wrong.
He refuses to stop incoming commercial flights from West Africa. He is wrong. Twenty other nations have already done this. The CDC reason is ridiculous; saying that we could not send helpers to Africa. Of course we could. And we should. They would travel on supervised charter flights and be quarantined for 21 days upon their return.
Ellis Island. Hello? Isn’t that what we did in the early days?
Early astronauts returning were quarantined to protect against any space germs.
One proposal would have an Ebola unit in every state. (I thought it is not going to spread in the US.) This would involve astronomical costs in money and personnel, that would possibly bankrupt some hospitals. Even now, the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas has converted its ICU to Ebola and sends their own patients to other hospitals.
So, here’s an idea. Let’s fight this disease at its source (10,000 new cases each week) and stop importing 150 potential Ebola carriers per day to the US!

FEAR NOT! Why should we be afraid if God is with us? Here is just a sampling of encouragement from the Bible:

When they came to the oasis of Marah, the water was too bitter to drink. So they called the place Marah (which means “bitter”). Then the people complained and turned against Moses. “What are we going to drink?” they demanded. So Moses cried out to Yehovah for help, and Yehovah showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink. It was there at Marah that Yehovah set before them the following decree as a standard to test their faithfulness to him. He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of Yehovah your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am Yehovah who heals you.” Exodus 15:23-26 NLT

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about Yehovah: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Psalm 91:1-7 NLT

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Rejoice for Seven Days

“Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of Yehovah for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before Yehovah your God for seven days. You shall keep it as a feast to Yehovah for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am Yehovah your God.”

So Moses declared to the children of Israel the feasts of Yehovah. Leviticus 23:39-44

Four Points

The Feast of Tabernacles is a seven-day celebration of the great joy of harvest and intimacy with our God.
It is and everlasting feast.
We dwell in booths or tabernacles to remember the desert wanderings, but also to look forward to Yehovah making His home among us!
All seven feasts are His feasts. They are not called the feasts of Israel, but the feasts of Yehovah.

The Second Blood Moon

Blood Moon (Holy Tetrad)

As many of you are aware, we are in the middle of what I call a Holy Tetrad. A tetrad is defined by NASA as when four consecutive total lunar eclipses occur (see http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2014/27mar_tetrad/). When all of the total lunar eclipses fall on the High Holy Days (as defined by YHWH in Leviticus 23 & Deuteronomy 16), I call it a Holy Tetrad.

During a total lunar eclipse, the moon will turn dark red and it is often described as a “blood moon”. This terminology is used in Scripture (Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20, & Rev 6:12).

The four blood moons of the 2014-2015 Holy Tetrad are 04/15/2014 (Pesach/Passover), 10/08/2014 (Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot), 04/04/2015 (Pesach/Passover), and 09/28/2015 (Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot). So far, we had the first blood moon of the Holy Tetrad on the most recent Pesach/Passover and will have a second blood moon coming up this Wednesday. (Quoted from a report by George Pappas)

I like the phrase George used: “Holy Tetrad.” The timing of these eclipses on holy feast days cannot be understated. God is definitely telling us something. Signs in the heavens point us to the coming of the Messiah. We are in a season of accelerating signs. Even the world events are centered on the geographical center of the earth: Jerusalem, Israel and the Middle East.

We must not continue with business as usual. The winds of change are blowing. There is a stirring in the air and a feeling deep in the inner man confirming cosmic change of Biblical proportions. This is not a time for burying your head in the sand or sleeping on your watch. Wake up! Be alert, discern the times. Be ready to act for God’s purposes.

Two verses mean a lot to me right now. One describes our readiness and the other our action.

the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command; 1 Chronicles 12:32

Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. Daniel 11:32

Get ready now because there won’t be time when the trumpet sounds. It is better to be ready than to have to get ready at that time.

Trumpets Sounding

Shana Tovah! That is Happy New Year in Hebrew. Sundown tonight was the beginning of 5775 in the Jewish calendar. But it also signals the start of the Fall Feasts; namely Trumpets, Yom Kippur (Atonement), and Feast of Tabernacles. For more detail please listen to my radio interview (Audio: The Feasts of Yehovah) to the right of this column, in which I teach ten minutes on each feast.

But, the most exciting anticipation for me each year in this season, is the Day of the Sounding of Trumpets (Yom Teruah). This evening in Jerusalem and literally around the world, the trumpets announced the great harvest feast. Not only does it speak of end-time harvest of souls, it is the warm-up for the most important sounding of trumpets in all of history. The Messiah comes at the blast of trumpets!

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52

Yet, there is an even greater clue in Jesus’ words recorded in Matthew 24 and Mark 13. Notice the mention of the trumpet announcing His coming, and then at the end of the selection notice the reference to “that day and hour no one knows”.

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven but My Father only. Matthew 24:30:36

This is one of the most exciting facts I know from studying Jewish roots. Jesus was not making the timing obscure, He was actually giving the answer. The Day of Trumpets Fall Feast was commanded to begin on the sighting of the new moon. If clouds or other weather blocked the view, they would have to wait for the next night. The trumpets could not be sounded until the physical sighting. If it was cloudy early and cleared up later the trumpets were released to blow. So, the entire high holy days season could not commence until the trumpets sounded. Here is the amazing fact. Jews of that day used a common expression as a sort of slang reference to the Feast of Trumpets. They said it was the feast that no one knows the day or hour! It was a literal description of the timing issue. Wow! So Jesus was very likely referring to that when He used that expression. He was letting them know to look for His return at the Fall Feast of Trumpets! Now you see why I have an extra reason to enjoy this season. Shana Tovah, Happy New Year!

Despite Rockets, Jews Return to Israel from the Nations

More than one thousand Jews have immigrated to Israel since the Gaza war started sixteen days ago. In fact, the number is at least 1,128 new Israelis. Praise the Lord! Today I share the motive and links to several reports documenting this miracle. Why would perfectly normal families and single people living in Canada, France, Ukraine and the United States decide to come now? Or, since they had planned this for some time, why did they not cancel or postpone? Some will rightfully point to the rise of anti-Semitism in France and Ukraine. Yet that is not the real motive. There is something happening in the depths of the heart of many. It is calling them home. It is the voice of Yehovah God, keeping His Promise!

“For there shall be a day when the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim, ‘Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to Yehovah our God.’ ” For thus says Yehovah: “Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, ‘O Yehovah, save Your people, the remnant of Israel!’Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the ends of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and the one who labors with child, together; A great throng shall return there.

They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble; for I am a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn. “Hear the word of Yehovah, O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’ For Yehovah has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, streaming to the goodness of Yehovah.” Jeremiah 31:6-12

I am one such watchman and I live in the nation that is certainly the chief among the nations in my generation. It is my call to proclaim the regathering and restoration of Israel. I am surely humbled and grateful for the role to which I am called. Perhaps you, too, hear that Voice of the Holy Spirit stirring you to PROCLAIM! If so, please obey and use every means at your disposal to spread the word of Yehovah’s regathering and restoration.

Three Israeli Teens Murdered

One teen was an Israeli/American citizen. After hundreds of thousands of Israelis have gathered in prayer all over the land for two weeks, the tragic news came today. Prime Minister Netanyahu holds Hamas responsible. Two suspects have already been named. The kidnapped and murdered boys bodies were found in a shallow grave on Arab property belonging to one of the previously named suspect’s family.

Meanwhile: A Hamas official denied responsibility Monday evening for the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli teenagers, threatening to “open the gates of hell” against Israel if it launched an attack against the Gaza Strip.

Here is a picture of the Humvee ambulance that was carrying the boys bodies. It was attacked by Arabs smashing windows. The savage hatred directed at Yehovah’s Chosen People is breath-taking. We need to pray for their deliverance and salvation. “They know not what they do,” as Jesus said on the cross.

It’s not over. The shedding of innocent blood is an abomination to God and has been since the beginning.

And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. Genesis 4:10-11

These six things Yehovah hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19

Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they have not known, and there is no justice in their ways; they have made themselves crooked paths; whoever takes that way shall not know peace. Isaiah 59:7-8

News Harvester

This is my full time job. Today I want to give you a glimpse into what I do. Each week my consumption of news is easily 30-40 hours. I read and watch domestic news, but especially Israel and Mid-east news sources, intelligence reports and briefs. My goal is to “harvest” from hundreds of sources each week and reduce it down to a few stories and events that are singled out by the Holy Spirit to share with you. You see, I pray constantly while reading and make it my assignment to “see and hear” what the Spirit says.

Not everyone needs this service, but many of you are very busy with your own calling in life and can greatly benefit from this simple service. My calling is to simplify. This is not my ability, but a gift from God to see the irreducible minimum message from the Lord in prophetic news. A mentor once told me this guidance to which I am committed: “Don’t be a preacher who has to say something, be a preacher who has something to say.”

Watching world events, Israel events and church events as a prophetic intercessor is a wonderful calling. One must learn to see by the Holy Spirit and hear by the Holy Spirit. The pen is mightier than the sword. In this day of world-wide Internet and social media, the opportunity is great. Red Moons Next

I highly recommend this book.

Prophecy buffs are always trying to figure out the next important fulfillment. With Bible prophecy seen on a daily basis, it has become more than recognizing their occurrence. It is now about connecting the dots. When I was a boy, a prophecy fulfilled was a major wonder. Today, they form a matrix of events and timing. More than ever, we need to be sons and daughters of Issachar:

From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take. 1 Chronicles 12:32

I wrote about the Blood-red Moons in my January 1, 2014 commentary: 2014 Prophetic Signs. Today, we are on the brink of this astronomical season of signs in the heavens. One difference between this rare tetrad of lunar eclipses on Biblical Feast Days of Passover and Tabernacles (starting April 15) is that this time, we know about it ahead of time.

This happened at well documented seasons of monumental dealings of God and Israel. Here is a quick review of some of the amazing seasons when a tetrad and the Feast Days coincided. In each case it was within a couple of years either way of the event.

1. The death of Jesus on the Cross.

2. The destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

3. The expulsion of the Jews from Spain and discovery of the New World (which would eventually be a place of refuge for Jews fleeing from persecution in many nations).

4. The establishment of Israel in 1948 after the Holocaust.

5. The return of Jerusalem to Jewish sovereignty. (Jesus had personally prophesied the downfall in 70 A.D. and its domination by Gentiles, until their period of dominance concluded in June, 1967).

“They will be killed by the sword or sent away as captives to all the nations of the world. And Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the period of the Gentiles comes to an end.” Luke 21:24

So what is the profound event affecting Israel that corresponds to this 2014-2015 series of lunar eclipses? Let me suggest two scenarios. It could be either, neither or both; but at least we should be asking the Lord to help us “understand the times.”

First Scenario: This season could see the culmination of the Psalm 83 War featuring only the countries immediately bordering Israel (listed by their ancient names in the Psalm). We could also see the Isaiah 17:1 fulfillment of the end of Damascus (Capital of Syria) as an inhabitable city. Also, I believe the Psalm 83 victory will see Israel claiming its Genesis 15 borders from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates.

On the same day Yehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates. Genesis 15:18

Second Scenario: Another possibility is a birds-eye view. In 1948, God’s restoration was for the Land, the State of Israel being restored. In 1967, He restored Jerusalem to Israel’s control. If you think of these steps as viewed through a camera, you start with a wide-angle lens, then you narrow the focus from the land to the city. That could be a clue to what to expect in this visitation. Narrow the focus once more and you see clearly a close-up of the Temple Mount. Perhaps a major change is about to happen there. What do you think? Beyond our mere speculations there is one sure word of Yeshua, the Messiah: Look up! Our redemption is close!

150 Rockets Rain on Israel

Three days = 150 rockets fall on Israel from Gaza this week. One hundred were fired on Wednesday alone (30 fell harmlessly in Gaza). This hardly makes news in Western and US media.

As rockets rain down, Liberman calls for IDF to recapture Gaza Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman on Wednesday evening said the IDF should reoccupy the Gaza Strip in response to an ongoing, massive rocket bombardment of southern Israel, and said that the Israeli government must defend its citizens even if it jeopardized peace talks with the Palestinians.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not endorse his foreign minister’s demand, however. Asked at a joint press conference with Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron if he backed the reconquest of the Strip, Netanyahu said that “if there is no quiet in our south, no quiet for the residents of Israel, there will be noise, lots of noise in Gaza.”

IDF attacks numerous terror targets in Gaza in response to rocket fire Army hits 2 targets with artillery fire, 29 more in airstrike after Islamic Jihad fired dozens of rockets at cities and towns in southern Israel. This was the heaviest barrage of rockets fired from the Strip since the 2012 Operation Pillar of Defense.

IDF patrol attacked near border with Lebanon (Friday March 14) Three soldiers taken to hospital to rule out injuries; army fires back at Hezbollah position north of the border; Lebanese army placed on alert.

As Israel heats up causing distress and complexity, there is another sign in the heavens to mention. On January 1, I wrote about the red moon eclipse tetrad beginning on Passover, April 15 (more on the red moons in the next few weeks). I quoted Jesus speaking of signs in the sun, moon and stars. The eclipses are in the sun and moon in the next 18 months, but here is a very interesting report about a sign in a star, Polaris, the North Star.

3. Kerry’s Framework Plan declares Israel as a Jewish state. Palestinians will not agree. SAND!

4. Kerry’s Framework Plan leaves 20-25% of Jews in Palestine. Palestinians will not agree. SAND!

5. Kerry’s Framework Plan allows no right of return for Arabs to Israel. Palestinians will not agree. SAND!

A Time for Pruning

MY DAD’S LIFE VERSE: I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5

From my earliest childhood I remember my Dad quoting this verse whenever he was asked his favorite Bible verse. Our church in rural Prophetstown, Illinois, often asked folks to share their favorite verse and Dad would always quote this verse. Even if he was at camp-meeting or a one-on-one conversation, that was his LIFE verse. I must admit, having a LIFE verse has taken on a whole new meaning for me, as I have been writing this book. My LIFE verse will be shared in a later chapter. But suffice it to say that Dad’s verse was not just the one he carried all through his life, but he LIVED it. It has now become the outline for this book dedicated in his honor. The greatest honor and accomplishment of his life, was the fact that his two sons were both in the ministry of the Gospel. He spoke often of his great joy in that solitary blessing. He lived to be ninety and was faithful to his love of Jesus and to his faithful love of my mother.

(A personal note to my grandchildren: If you want to know what your grandfather was like, watch the movie Fiddler On The Roof. Study Tevye, the milkman. Your great grandfather was a lot like him. Dad had that rare balanced personality embracing humor, sober reflection, hard work and family. But most of all, he loved God and talked to Him in his everyday life like a friend; because God was his friend, and he was God’s friend. Amazing, and it took me way too long to realize that I did not deserve that living example of fatherhood.)

I prayed much about the outline for this book on Jesus LIFE. It is all in Dad’s verse. First, Jesus is the VINE. Second, we are the BRANCHES. Finally, we will bear much FRUIT. I hope you see what I mean by the time we are finished with this book. (Excerpt from the third book in my GENERATION Series: Generation LIFE, introduction to Chapter One.)

A friend sent a transcription of several prophetic words for 2014-15 from Rabbi Jonathan Kahn’s New Jersey Messianic congregation. I believe this quote really hits the nail on the head for 2014.

This is a year of preparation and readiness for the time of what is ahead, for the greater things to come, for us, but linked to the world, preparing as a vessel, to ready ourselves for the use of the Lord, as the Scriptures says:

Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21

This is also a year to prune. The purpose of pruning a tree is to cut off the branches that are not bearing fruit that are wasting the tree’s energy, resources, and time. We are to prune our own lives, prune off those things that are not bearing fruit for God. Of course, sins, but other things as well, that wastes time and does not bear fruit, and also, those things you do to bear fruit and it hasn’t bore fruit for a while (not something that God says to wait on that). The purpose is not to stop bearing fruit; the purpose is to bear more fruit. Thus, the tree will stop wasting energy into the unfruitful branches, and put more energy into the fruitful branches. We must spend time in God’s ministry. There is no such thing as a congregation with ministers; we are a congregation of ministers. Start serving in the Lord if you haven’t done so, in every area of our lives. If we are already ministering in the Lord and it does not bear fruit, and we have prayed about it and God had not said to wait on this, then we need to serve God in another way, in new ways, seek Him for what He wants, praising God in new ways, walking, overcoming in new ways, get out of the rut, God does not want us to waste the time we have, be fruitful in everything.

As we enter a profound prophetic time zone of the next eighteen months of the blood moons, these words are timely reminders from our loving Heavenly Father: It is time to prune!

Ariel Sharon 1928-2014

How the Mighty Have Fallen!

With the news of Ariel Sharon’s death, we must consider the proper attitude for Christians to express toward his memory. My first thought was “How the mighty have fallen!” My commentary of January 6, 2014, Ariel Sharon and Judgment, documented his worst mistake. However, this is the time to honor his memory, not celebrate his passing. Here is a quote from that posting.

“Please know that I take no joy in these facts, but they show an aspect of God that we must embrace if we live by the Bible. Even God Himself takes no pleasure in anyone’s death.”

“Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord Yehovah. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord Yehovah. “Therefore turn and live!” Ezekiel 18:30-32

So, for an example of our proper response, I see two important points drawing on God’s revealed character and the example of King David. Look at King David’s cry over the death of King Saul and Jonathan.

Then David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son, and he told them to teach the children of Judah the Song of the Bow; indeed it is written in the Book of Jasher: “The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen! Tell it not in Gath, proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon—Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.” 2 Samuel 1:17-20

1. Honor the anointing: Remember David’s refusal to kill Saul earlier because Saul was “God’s anointed.” David understood that God does not rejoice in the death of a man. He honored the anointing of Saul even to his death. Saul tried to kill David, yet he never wavered from respecting the anointing.

Ariel Sharon was chosen by God to be Prime Minister of Israel, his failures and critical mistakes notwithstanding. The Hebrew meaning of the name “Ariel” means “lion of God.” May Yehovah have mercy on his soul.

2. Don’t gloat about it: David warned about the response of the Philistines. Even today, we know the Palestinians will celebrate Sharon’s death. We must watch what spirit we have. It is a time to grieve not a time rejoice. If you read the full account in 2 Samuel 1, you will see that David ordered the execution of the young Amalekite who bragged that he killed Saul.

Finally, we have the controversial story of the Rabbi who claimed Jesus appeared to him. (See my 1-9-14 blog.) The Rabbi said the Messiah would come after Ariel Sharon died. I pray that the controversy will cause many to seriously consider the claims of Jesus of Nazareth. With the passing of Ariel Sharon (reported this morning) it is a very potent time for the Holy Spirit to reveal the true Messiah, Yeshua, to many. I pray it is so.

Rabbi Says Yeshua is Messiah

I almost named this post: Ariel Sharon Part Two. His soon death has shone a spotlight on a remarkable story, buried at the time, but will now surface with a bang. One of the most respected orthodox Israeli Rabbis, who died January 28, 2006 at 108 years, named Jesus (Yeshua) as the Messiah. Based on the Messiah appearing to Him in visions, he revealed the name in a coded message held back until a year after his death. Some estimated there were 300,000 people in his funeral procession.

After my last commentary about former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, I was asked about Rabbi Kaduri. I then added a couple of links to the story. However, it deserves wider attention, thus this posting. The convergence in 2014 of the blood-red moons and Ariel Sharon’s death adds credibility to Rabbi Kaduri’s report. Here again are the two important links. The first is a short video outlining the facts. The second is and article in Israel Today written at the time they opened the coded message. What do you think about it?

The most intriguing part is the prediction that the Messiah would come soon after Ariel Sharon’s death. Who knew he would live in a coma for over seven years? The Rabbi was a Kabbalist, a Jewish mystic. Does that discount the report? Either way, the focus in Israel is still on Jesus being named the Messiah of Israel. Let the debate begin!

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will enlighten the hearts of many and reveal the truth.

When is the last time you read Isaiah 53? Jews say it refers to the nation of Israel, not a person. We see it as a clear description of Jesus as the Messiah of Israel.

The Sin-Bearing Messiah Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of Yehovah been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and Yehovah has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgressions of My people He was stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked—But with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.

Yet it pleased Yehovah to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of Yehovah shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Unprecedented Snow in Jerusalem: Over 3 Feet!

It is time to pray. This storm has stranded thousands of people. Jerusalem has already had over a foot with two more expected tonight. They are not prepared for the unexpectedly extreme conditions. As I write this, it is sundown Friday there. The worst is yet to come. Pray!

Finally, there is a prophetic context to the fact that John Kerry is presently in Jerusalem imposing the US Administrations will. It is the eleventh time this year. Amazingly, there is a prophetic pronouncement in the two preceding verses to the above quote that gives context. It is not man who brings peace to Jerusalem, it is Yehovah God! Jesus is the Prince of Peace, Yeshua Sar Shalom!

He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. Yehovah takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. Psalm 147:10-11

Stunning Egyptian Coup Ousts Morsi

Today’s military coup has reversed the democratic election of 18 months ago which brought Mohammed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt. Morsi was President for exactly one year. I have been declaring that he was the “cruel master” and “fierce king” of Isaiah 19. It appears now that I was wrong about Morsi being that leader. However, the overall prophecy of Isaiah 19, the “Arab Spring”chapter still holds.

The first three verses are already fulfilled and we now look elsewhere for verse four, unless Morsi has an amazing recovery of power. Who will the army choose to lead Egypt? Will he be the cruel master, fierce king; or will it be someone who follows him? You can be sure that the prophecy of Scripture will be fulfilled. The chaos and divisions are not going to heal themselves. More to come.

The burden against Egypt. Behold, Yehovah rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence,and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst. “I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; Everyone will fight against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor,

No Weapon Can Stand Against Israel

Christians have long used the verse from Isaiah to proclaim God’s protection. Actually, it is a promise directly to Israel that applies now more than ever. There are still 10,000 rockets targeting Israel in Gaza, and intelligence experts agree that 70,000 rockets and missiles are in the hands of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. This verse certainly can apply also to Christians who are “grafted in” to Israel, but the historical application is the nation of Israel.

But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of Yehovah; their vindication will come from me. I, Yehovah, have spoken! Isaiah 54:17 NLT

How wonderful to hear a reference to this verse from the mouth of Israeli army chief Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz. He recently spoke at a Holocaust remembrance Day observance at the Auschwitz Death Camp:

Speaking to a large number of Israeli, Jewish and non-Jewish dignitaries, Gantz echoed Isaiah 54:17 in declaring that “there is no weapon or evil intention that can stand” against Israel. Gantz said the presence of Israeli Jewish soldiers in Auschwitz, along with their supporters, was “living proof of the victory of light, the victory of morality, [and] the triumph of Israel.” Israel Today

As the storm clouds gather around Israel it is comforting to rest on this promise. Please continue in faithful prayer and intercession on behalf of Israel. We also proactively stand for Israel by speaking truth against the growing anti-Israel propaganda. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Jesus is the real Prince of Peace, Yeshua Sar Shalom.

New Israeli Government Welcomes Obama

“Unbreakable Alliance” is the official logo to welcome US President Obama to Israel on Wednesday. The new Israeli government was voted in by the Knesset at 6 pm today, only 54 hours before the first Obama visit to Israel as President.

Prime Minister Netanyahu will preside over a stable government united in its stance toward Iran’s nuclear threats, the expected “Topic One” for this summit.

The President will be in the area from Wednesday through Friday, also meeting with Palestinian Authority leader Abbas in Ramallah. A detailed chronological itinerary is available here for your intercessory prayer points.

All is not rosy, however. A poster of President Obama was torn down in Bethlehem on Monday and defaced with swastikas and an “X” over his face. Later an official Palestinian car drove over it in protest. Shoes were thrown at other posters in acts of disrespect common in Arab culture. (On a personal note: Now that we have nine chickens, and I have helped clean the coop, I understand the not so subtle offense intended by the bottom of the shoe tossed at an enemy.)

This week is full of prophetic significance. Israel’s future does not hang in the balance; God’s favor and future for Israel is etched in stone. It is America’s future that is unsure. How we treat Israel will be the absolute determining factor according to the real “unbreakable alliance” between Yehovah God and Israel:

And it shall come to pass that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, Let your hands be strong. Zechariah 8:13

The Last Pope?

Much has already been written about the change of Popes on February 28. Some folks have asked my opinion, so here is my view.

The real issue is the timing. By now you have heard of the 1139 AD prophecy of Archbishop Malachy of Armagh, Ireland. First, three disclaimers:

1. Only Bible prophecy has trustworthy credibility. This one is outside the Scriptures.

3. The historical trail has a bit of a blip around 1590.

So what is the big deal? As stated above, it is about the timing. However, it has only struck a nerve because of the uncanny accuracy of his list of Popes and their cryptic descriptions. They really do seem to line up with the historic Popes. (See link above for the details.)

My interest is the timing naming the next Pope as the last one before the Messiah comes. My book, Generation Last, establishes two clear proofs that, indeed. we are living in the last generation of this Age. One proof is from the Old Testament; the other is from the New Testament.

The last Pope of the Malachy prophecy is Peter the Roman. Hal Lindsey mentioned the prophecy eight years ago in this article. Some observers think Pope Benedict has hand-picked the Vatican Secretary of State as his successor.

The claim centers on Cardinal Tarcisio Pietro (Peter in English) Evasio Bertone, born in Romano Canavese, Piedmont, the current secretary of state for the Vatican, who Pope Benedict XVI appointed Camerlengo, or Chamberlain, of the Holy Roman Church April 4, 2007. In the period known as “sede vacante,” when there is no sitting pope, Bertone will be called upon as Camerlengo to serve as the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Here is the last prophecy by Malachy. (Please view the entire chart of all the Popes here):

In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit [i.e., as bishop].
Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [i.e. Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End

Again, it about timing. Is this a confirmation of much Biblical evidence that we are living in the last generation? Time will tell. If this “Pietro from Romano” is Peter the Roman and becomes the next Pope, I would certainly pay close attention to all the other “signs of the times.”

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:3

Be Silent Before Yehovah, All Humanity

YEHOVAH’S SPRING!

All eyes are on Israel and the Mideast. The cauldron is bubbling and boiling with strategies from the pit of hell. We are living in the day when the prophetic reality is now upon us. All hell is breaking loose, literally. Yet it is at this time that Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies is springing into action from His holy dwelling. If you thought the Arab Spring was something, wait till you see Yehovah God in action. It is all about Israel, the apple of His eye. Israel is poked by just about every other nation and God takes it personally. He told the prophet Zechariah over 2,500 years ago exactly what would occur.

After a period of glory, Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies sent me against the nations who plundered you. For he said, “Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession. I will raise my fist to crush them, and their own slaves will plunder them.” Then you will know that Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies has sent me.

Yehovah says, “Shout and rejoice, O beautiful Jerusalem, for I am coming to live among you. Many nations will join themselves to Yehovah on that day, and they, too, will be my people. I will live among you, and you will know that Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies sent me to you. The land of Judah will be Yehovah’s special possession in the holy land, and he will once again choose Jerusalem to be his own city.Be silent before Yehovah, all humanity, for he is springing into action from his holy dwelling.” Zechariah 2:8-13

I think we could call it Yehovah’s Spring. Fasten your seat belts, prepare for turbulence. It’s going to be a bumpy ride. Let us join ourselves to Yehovah in this day! He has opened the Way, through His Son, Yeshua ben Yehovah.

Year of the Snake

The Chinese New Year which begins February 10 is the Year of the Snake. Previous “years of the snake” saw the US stock market crash of 1929, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the Chinese 1989 crushing of the Tiananmen Square pro-democracy protests and the 9/11/2001 World Trade Center attack in New York City. Do I have your attention?

Let me be clear at the outset. I do not believe in astrology. The Bible is quite clear on the subject.

And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? Leviticus 19:31

And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people. Leviticus 20:6

Also he made his son pass through the fire, practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft, and consulted spiritists and mediums. He did much evil in the sight of Yehovah, to provoke Him to anger. 2 Kings 21:6

Additionally, Jesus explicitly defined Satan’s purpose to steal, kill and destroy. The devil is at his tasks every year. This year will see terrible events, not because of a plethora of occult false prophesies, but in the Biblical timing of the end of the age.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Jesus goes on to explain that we are not at the mercy of the devil at all, but that if we walk with Jesus we will be over-comers!

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. 1 John 5:4

Therefore, we will not live in fear, but faith! Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

A New Season

Here is a personal view of the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast I attended yesterday in Washington, DC. In a whirlwind trip, I drove up to DC, attended seven hours of meetings and returned to Raleigh in only 18 hours.

My first highlight was the worship I had in my car driving through Sunday night. Then, the harp and bowl worship at the event was sweet with connections in the Spirit to new and old friends. The native American presence throughout the morning had great authority in Jesus. One Chief prayed with great power for our nation. Sid Roth’s prayer was also with deep passion and effectiveness.

The top moment was the keynote message by Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. He spoke as a prophet of old with a clarion call for our nation to turn back to God. His message fit into what I have heard about this new season. I believe we have turned a corner because of refusing to heed God’s warnings. Jonathan Cahn’s famous book, The Harbinger, details his message. There is also an online Harbinger video at this link.

55 Million US Abortions

Forty years is a very Biblical number. Next Tuesday is the 40th anniversary of the fateful abortion decision. What prophetic implications could that occasion hold? Monday is the US Presidential Inauguration. Tuesday is also the national election in Israel. We are about to encounter a very “pregnant time” prophetically. In addition Monday, I am privileged to join many other believers at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. I plan to participate in a “harp and bowl” worship time from 4-6 am, followed by a profound declaration over the land by native American leaders, concluding with the prayer breakfast from 7-11. Jonathan Cahn is the keynote speaker. Please be in prayer support for the transactions taking place in the heavenlies during this critical time.

Thus says Yehovah: “Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place. Jeremiah 22:3

These six things Yehovah hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19

The “New Pharaoh” Principle

Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. Exodus 1:8

During Israel’s 400 years in Egypt they transitioned from great favor under Joseph as Pharaoh’s second in command. Eventually their expanding population threatened a new Pharaoh and he made them slaves. This is a prophetic picture of modern Israel’s circumstances. I call it the “New Pharaoh” principle.

Prime Minister Netanyahu quoted this text on New Year’s Day during his weekly Bible study. It came up in the regular Torah portion Bible reading for Jews everywhere. I was impressed with his insight into the prophetic application. He saw the threat from Egypt’s Morsi who replaced Mubarak; and he applied it also to the Hamas threat over the West Bank.

In this week’s Torah portion it is written, “Now there arose a new king over Egypt who knew not Joseph.” That’s also happening today,” he said from his Jerusalem residence, referring to the Islamist president, Mohammed Morsi, who replaced Hosni Mubarak as Egypt’s leader last year. Everyone knows that Hamas could take over the Palestinian Authority. Benjamin Netanyahu 1-1-13

It is so wonderful to hear a head of state not merely use Scripture for image, but as the support for his political position. Hamas really is a threat to take over the Palestinian “state” in the West Bank. The Prime Minister continued:

As opposed to the voices that I have heard recently urging me to run forward, make concessions, withdraw [from the West Bank], I think that the diplomatic process must be managed responsibly and sagaciously and not in undue haste. Otherwise a third base for Iranian terrorism will arise here, in the heart of the country. Peace can be achieved only when security is assured. (ibid)

This principle has applied several times already in the so-called peace process. When Israel withdrew from Lebanon, Hezbollah took over control. When Israel withdrew from Gaza, the Palestinian Authority was soon overthrown by Hamas. The same scenario has now played out in Egypt. and is certain to result in Syria and even Jordan before we are through.

Therefore, Netanyahu is wise to consider possible future changes when “negotiating” with Abbas. The corrupt PA will be replaced by Hamas in a short time. There is a growing move in Israel to simply annex Judea and Samaria (the West Bank). A Jerusalem conference is considering this concept this week.

Please keep the “New Pharaoh” principle in mind as you pray for Israel and real peace for Jerusalem.

Will Israel Stand Alone?

Monday, I explained that the enemies of Israel in reality hate God. They can’t reach Heaven so they attack His Chosen Ones. There is a primary evil spirit loose on the earth of satan himself, who would overthrow the God of Heaven. This anti-Christ anti-Messiah spirit takes form as anti-Jew, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic and anti-life. It is the same violent principality that was judged by Yehovah in the great flood of Noah’s day. The Hebrew word for violence in the flood account is “hamas“. Used many times in the Bible, it is no coincidence that the rulers of Gaza chose that name. Yet, the spirit of hamas indwells all of Israel’s enemies.

The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Genesis 6:11-13

Pharaoh!

According to Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei: “Morsi today usurped all state powers & appointed himself Egypt’s new pharaoh. A major blow to the revolution that could have dire consequences.”

CAIRO
Egypt’s Islamist president unilaterally decreed greater authorities for himself Thursday and effectively neutralized a judicial system that had emerged as a key opponent by declaring that the courts are barred from challenging his decisions.

Riding high on U.S. and international praise for mediating a Gaza cease-fire, Mohammed Morsi put himself above oversight and gave protection to the Islamist-led assembly writing a new constitution from a looming threat of dissolution by court order. Associated Press

Only one day after Hillary Clinton gushed over Morsi’s role in the Israeli/Gaza truce, the Muslim Brotherhood President of Egypt became the new Pharoah. The grand new democracy of Egypt didn’t last six months. This was a major leap fulfilling Isaiah 19 as explained in my earlier posting: Egyptians Against Egyptians.

Islamization has taken Turkey President Erdogan ten years. Morsi is accomplishing it in six months. My interpretation of the acceleration of events can only mean one thing. The God of Israel is bringing all prophecy to an appointed end; and it is very soon.

This has profound importance for believers. Jesus said to look up for our redemption is close. We are watchmen on the wall. This is no time to be caught “sleeping”, or ignorant of His timing.

Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. Luke 21:28

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of Yehovah, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Isaiah 62:6-7

This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. Romans 13:11 NLT

Mercy

MERCY – My final commentary on the U.S. election.

My view of a second term for President Obama comes from several scriptures. We have prayed for mercy for our land through super storm Sandy and the election according to Job 37 (see last week’s post). We know that God is in control either for correction, for His land, or for mercy. I suspect that all three apply here. A Third Great Awakening is destined for America because of the character of God. There has never been a nation that has spread Jesus (the Bread of Life), on the waters (nations) like America has. Therefore Yehovah God will bring one last great revival.

Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days. Ecclesiastes 11:1

This morning the sun came up and we sang: “This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it!” How appropriate that Jesus sang those very words at His last Passover supper, the night He was betrayed. He knew what He was about to face, yet would have sung the traditional Passover hymn including Psalm 118; and we sing it with Him!

This is the day Yehovah has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. Daniel 2:21

God is in control.

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Romans 13:1

Finally, here is a very sober text from a time of God’s judgment on Judah.

A Warning for Rebellious Judah (Does this now apply to America?)

Now go and write down these words. Write them in a book. They will stand until the end of time as a witness that these people are stubborn rebels who refuse to pay attention to Yehovah’s instructions.

They tell the seers, “Stop seeing visions!” They tell the prophets, “Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies. Forget all this gloom. Get off your narrow path. Stop telling us about your ‘Holy One of Israel.’”

This is the reply of the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise what I tell you and trust instead in oppression and lies, calamity will come upon you suddenly—like a bulging wall that bursts and falls. In an instant it will collapse and come crashing down.

This is what the Sovereign Yehovah, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.

So Yehovah must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For Yehovah is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. Isaiah 30:8-13,15,18 NLT
