Will the Nile River Run Dry?

Nile River over Luxor, Egypt 10-9-19

Does the Bible prophesy the Nile River will dry up? Among certain unfulfilled prophesies this one about the Nile is quite troubling. How could such a devastating thing even happen? Is it real? The prediction is found in the prophecy of Isaiah, chapter 19.

The waters of the Nile will fail to rise and flood the fields. The riverbed will be parched and dry. The canals of the Nile will dry up, and the streams of Egypt will stink with rotting reeds and rushes. All the greenery along the riverbank and all the crops along the river will dry up and blow away. Isaiah 19:5-7 NLT

Could this really happen? It is as real as today’s headlines.

Egypt’s options dry up as Nile dam talks break down Egypt has been holding talks for years with Ethiopia and Sudan, which have long complained about Cairo’s overwhelming share of the river. The Nile supplies more than 90% of Egypt’s fresh water, although Egyptians have one of the lowest per capita shares of water in the world. The latest breakdown in talks with Ethiopia over its construction of a massive upstream Nile dam has left Egypt with dwindling options as it seeks to protect the main source of fresh water for its large and growing population.

Talks collapsed earlier this month over the construction of the $5 billion Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which is around 70% complete and promises to provide much-needed electricity to Ethiopia’s 100 million people. But Egypt, with a population of around the same size, fears that the process of filling the reservoir behind the dam could slice into its share of the river, with catastrophic consequences. Pro-government media have cast it as a national security threat that could warrant military action. Israel Hayom

We have been looking at Isaiah 19 for awhile now, and it is a severe judgment in verse 12: “what God plans, what Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies is going to do to Egypt.” Yet, the chapter does not end there, but with great news. The resulting repentance of Egyptians causes them to cry out to the God of Israel!

In that day five of Egypt’s cities will follow Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies. They will even begin to speak Hebrew, the language of Canaan. One of these cities will be Heliopolis, the City of the Sun. In that day there will be an altar to Yehovah in the heart of Egypt, and there will be a monument to Yehovah at its border. It will be a sign and a witness that Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies is worshiped in the land of Egypt. When the people cry to Yehovah for help against those who oppress them, he will send them a savior who will rescue them.Yehovah will make himself known to the Egyptians. Yes, they will know Yehovah and will give their sacrifices and offerings to him. They will make a vow to Yehovah and will keep it.Yehovah will strike Egypt, and then he will bring healing. For the Egyptians will turn to Yehovah, and he will listen to their pleas and heal them. Isaiah 19:18-22 NLT

Wow! Can you believe it? What a wonderful salvation in the end. Finally, there will also be something similar happening in the area of ancient Assyria which is now Syria and the area where the Kurds now live.

In that day Egypt and Assyria will be connected by a highway. The Egyptians and Assyrians will move freely between their lands, and they will both worship God. And Israel will be their ally. The three will be together, and Israel will be a blessing to them. For Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies will say, “Blessed be Egypt, my people. Blessed be Assyria, the land I have made. Blessed be Israel, my special possession!” Isaiah 19:23-25 NLT

Wow again! Fasten your seat belts, the ride may get a little bumpy in the near future. This is a literal prophecy for our day, soon to be fulfilled. Watch and pray.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and pray and thank Him for rain.

Act of War?

22 11 2016

plo-demoHere is an odd little story to spice up your holiday.

‘Muezzin Law is a declaration of war’ The Palestinian Authority is warning that Israel’s law to ban loudspeakers for the Muslim call to prayer (5 times daily) is an act of war.” Really? “The Palestinian Authority leadership blasted a proposed law to ban the use of loudspeakers to broadcast the Muslim call to prayer from mosques across Israel, warning that if passed the law would spark a new war.”

Turkey has also weighed in: Turkey: ‘Muezzin Law’ is an insult “Turkish Deputy Prime Minister says law prohibiting mosques from using loudspeakers is an insult to the history of Jerusalem.”

What is wrong with this picture? Well, for starters, many nations already have a loudspeaker ban in place. This includes Muslim nations such as Egypt, UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

Secondly, Jerusalem has been Israel’s capital for over 3,000 years. Islam has been around less than half that time.

If I forget you, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget its skill! If I do not remember you, Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth— If I do not exalt Jerusalem above my chief joy. Psalm 137:5-6

Thirdly, why the double standard? If other countries ban loudspeakers under decibel rules, why can’t Israel?

Other Countries Muffle Mosques, But Israel Cannot? (This a great article from Israel Today, my favorite Messianic site.) “Quite the controversy is raging over Israel’s proposed legislation aimed at muffling the five daily Muslim calls to prayer from local mosques. In recent decades, the call of the muezzin has been amplified by multiple loudspeakers, resulting in tremendous noise pollution starting at 4:30 AM every morning.”

Of course the issue is not the new law, it is an excuse for another accusation against Israel. Her enemies continue to demand the elimination of Israel.

UC Berkeley Offers Class in Erasing Jews From Israel, Destroying Jewish State This article reveals a new class at UC Berkeley that was stopped temporarily and then reinstated. The anti-Israel propaganda machine is world-wide, and especially strong on US campuses. We need to pray for our students that they will learn actual history, which will protect them from the lies of revisionist history.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! I pray you will have a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving.

Hear the word of Yehovah, O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd does his flock.” For Yehovah has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, streaming to the goodness of Yehovah — for wheat and new wine and oil, for the young of the flock and the herd; their souls shall be like a well-watered garden, and they shall sorrow no more at all. Jeremiah 31:10-12

Isis Attacks Egypt Near Israel Border

1 07 2015

Sinai_Attack_1.7.15Today, July 1, a major Isis military attack in the Sinai, near Israel and Gaza, killed 200 and injured many more. (updated death toll)

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant moved ominously close to Israel’s borders Wednesday, July 1 – not as predicted in the north, but in the south, from the Sinai Peninsula. There, ISIS followed up on its Ramadan terror outrages in France, Tunisia, Kuwait and Kobani, with a massive assault on Egyptian forces in the northern Sinai region of Sheikh Zuwaid close to the Israeli and Gaza Strip borders.
Not just a terrorist attack, ISIS launched a full-scale military assault, starting with mortar fire and suicide bombings against five Egyptian military checkpoints.

Using a tactic similar to that employed in the capture of the Iraqi town of Ramadi last month, ISIS gunmen followed this initial assault by riding in on minivans, backed by heavy mortar fire, to storm the positions held by stunned Egyptian troops. Altogether some 20 Egyptian army positions were attacked in and around Sheikh Zuwaid.

Egyptian troop reinforcements setting out from El Arish to the northeast to aid the beleaguered force, went up on mine and bomb traps secretly planted around their camps and police stations. Egyptian Apache assault helicopters striking the ISIS force themselves faced ground fire from shoulder-borne anti-air missiles.

Egyptian forces are reported to have sustained heavy casualties, at least 64 dead and many more wounded. The Islamists are additionally said to have taken Egyptian prisoners as hostages. (Debka File)

For those who don’t know, the acronym “ISIL” is used by President Obama instead of ISIS or IS. Why? The “L” stands for the Levant, which is not only Iraq and Syria, but includes Israel. This attack could be connected to Psalm 83. It is time to pray!

US Middle East forces located in Jordan and at Sharm el-Sheikh are on the ready in case the Islamic State decides to attack the US officers and men at the Multinational Force facility in Sinai, which is located near the Sheikh Zuwaid battlefield.

Standing ready for the Islamist offensive in Sinai were the jihadis of the Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, which recently declared Sinai a province of the Islamic State and took an oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

ISIS draws on two additional major sources for its fighting manpower: the infrastructure it established in turbulent Libya for training and arming jihadis to cross the Egyptian border into Sinai; and the fatal attraction its radicalizing ideology holds for young Muslims who are taught that the brutal murder of Islam’s foes is a cleansing and purifying act. (Debka File)

This fatal attraction is nothing more or less than the demonic spirit from hell that loves death more than life. Satan comes only to steal, kill and destroy. He is the one who spawns the abomination of desolation. But that is not the end of the story. Here is the truth in Jesus own words:

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Yehovah has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said, “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don’t live in dread of what frightens them. Make Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble. He will keep you safe.” Isaiah 8:11-13 NLT

Egypt Demands Compensation for 10 Plagues

Egypt Demands Compensation for 10 Plagues

Egypt Demands Compensation for 10 Plagues

Yes, you read it right. You can’t make this stuff up!

“We demand that the State of Israel pay compensation for the ten plagues that our forefathers in Egypt suffered thousands of years ago as a result of the curses of the Jewish forefathers.” So wrote prominent Egyptian columnist Ahmad Al-Gamal shortly before the Jewish Passover, causing a great stir.”

The columnist suggested that the government in Cairo press charges against Israel: “The Jews caused the land to be stricken with locusts and all agriculture destroyed, turned the Nile red with blood so that one could drink its waters, sent darkness, frogs and killed the firstborn.”

Al-Gamal continued: “During 40 years of wandering in the desert, the Children of Israel enjoyed our goods, which they stole before abandoning us. Some Israeli columnists retorted that Egypt need first compensate Israel for keeping the Jewish forefathers as slaves and for killing all male Jewish babies in the generation prior to the Exodus.  Israel Today Magazine

So they resolved to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover to Yehovah God of Israel at Jerusalem, since they had not done it for a longtime in the prescribed manner. 2 Chronicles 30:5

May you have a happy and blessed Passover 2014.

800+ Dead in Egypt

17 08 2013

Egypt police truckThis is just a quick reminder that Yehovah God is on the throne. Nearly a thousand dead in three days by some estimates and over a thousand by others. The army gives lower numbers than the Muslim Brotherhood. Yet, Isaiah 19 still describes exactly what is happening.

For the past year it looked like Morsi would be the “cruel master” and “fierce king”. Now, it is looking more like General Sissi is the one.

And the Egyptians I will give Into the hand of a cruel master, And a fierce king will rule over them,” Says the Lord, Yehovah of hosts. Isaiah 19:4

The General, called the “new king of Egypt” by the Jerusalem Post, has cracked down in a few weeks with much more force than Morsi had in a year. Here is excellent analysis from The Times of Israel.

el-SissiEl-Sissi will not be deterred The heavy use of force by Egyptian police has reignited Muslim Brotherhood protests and brought criticism at home and abroad. But the strongman is unmoved, and much of Egypt is with him. (Read the article at this link.)

Two collateral effects of this brewing Egyptian civil war are the damage to the Christians of Egypt and the treaty with Israel. Over 40 churches were burned in the last three days. Here is the latest list from Jihad Watch.

Israel is watching closely to see the implications for the treaty in a “delicate balancing act”.

We must pray faithfully for the Christians of Egypt and other Muslim countries.

We must pray faithfully for the salvation of Muslims. AND…

We must pray faithfully for peace, protection and continued blessing of Yehovah on His beloved Israel.

Psalm 83 As a Prayer

11 07 2013

thumbnail.aspxWe have been talking about the Psalm 83 War prophecy for several years, but what is the particular prophetic prayer purpose of the Psalm?

We know it predicts a war against Israel that has not yet been completed. It names the specific nations attacking using ancient names which translate to the ones immediately surrounding Israel today. They are a confederacy, not a union. They attack Israel because they hate Yehovah, God of Israel. Their goal is to utterly defeat Israel so that even its name will be forgotten.

Yet, Psalm 83 is a prayer. What is the Psalmist requesting? Essentially, the supplication is revealed in verses 9-12:

Deal with them as with Midian, as with Sisera, as with Jabin at the Brook Kishon, who perished at En Dor, who became as refuse on the earth. Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, “Let us take for ourselves the pastures of God for a possession.” Psalm 83:9-12

The source story of Midian’s defeat by Gideon in Judges 7 holds the key.

When the three hundred blew the trumpets, Yehovah set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; Judges 7:22

Later we learn that 120,00 Middianites had fallen in the initial confusion fighting one another. Gideon pursued 15,000 who had temporarily escaped with their kings and princes before being killed.

Now Zebah and Zalmunna were at Karkor, and their armies with them, about fifteen thousand, all who were left of all the army of the people of the East; for one hundred and twenty thousand men who drew the sword had fallen. Judges 8:10

The other reference is to Sisera and Jabin in the account of Deborah, Judge of Israel from Judges chapters 4 and 5. That battle also resulted in an overwhelming victory and rout for Israel against all odds.

So we conclude that the prayer of Psalm 83 is:

1. A supernatural victory granted by Yehovah, Himself.

2. It will be a rout of the enemy.

3. It will involve the enemy fighting and killing each other. (Another example of this type of battle is found in 2 Chronicles 20 where three armies attacking Israel, instead fought one another and “none escaped”!

4. Yet, Israel’s army will finish the job. I submit to you that this is exactly what is now happening in the Middle East. It is happening in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and now even in Jordan. It is also seen in the division between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.

Prophetic or Pathetic?

8 07 2013

Mideast EgyptToday’s headline in Egypt reads: At least 51 killed in Egypt as Islamists urge defiance.

How are we to pray about the coup that overthrew democratically elected President Morsi? We certainly have mixed feelings. He was quickly imposing Sharia law on all Egyptians and unleashed a greater permissiveness for attacking Coptic Christians. Yet, he was elected in Egypt’s first free election in modern history.

The answer to my question is not to reason out a position. We have a certain simple clarity: Pray God’s will. I don’t mean pray a prayer that says: “God, I pray that your will be done.” Rather, we must learn what His will actually is about Egypt, and then agree with God. This brings me to my title.

Prophetic or Pathetic? In January 1990, it was my privilege to attend  the International Prophetic Intercessors Conference in Jerusalem. Until then, even though I was a pastor of a healthy church, I did not really like intercessors all that much. They seemed somewhat pathetic to me. Too often the tone of their prayers was a whiny sort of begging. It was as if their faith required demonstration of their unworthiness to dare ask God for help. Or as one Scripture suggests, that they would be heard for their abundance of words.

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Matthew 6:7

But I got a completely different perspective from a message by Lance Lambert at that 1990 Jerusalem conference. So what is the basis of a believer’s intercession? Pray the Bible! It is simply to find out what God intends to do and then agree with it in prayer. For example, I have led a weekly meeting for about ten years called The Issachar Forum: A Prophetic Think Tank. Our goal is to equip believers to pray into God’s will with confidence, because we know His intentions. We stand on this verse.

From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take. 1 Chronicles 12:32 NLT

We desire to be sons and daughters of Issachar who “understand the times” and know what God wants. Think about it. Sometimes you have prayed without a clue. How much more authority do you have when you are confident of God’s revealed purpose?

Therefore, when we pray about Egypt at this critical time, we open our Bibles to Isaiah 19 and conform our prayers into agreement with this amazing “Arab Spring” chapter. Political implications are irrelevant. I commented on this last week, and also gave an eight step outline of the “Arab Spring” prophecy in my May 3, 2013 commentary: Yehovah Rides Into Egypt.

The surest way to get our prayers answered is to pray in agreement with what Yehovah God has already revealed. Amen!

Stunning Egyptian Coup Ousts Morsi

3 07 2013

egypt-0703-horizontal-galleryToday’s military coup has reversed the democratic election of 18 months ago which brought Mohammed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt. Morsi was President for exactly one year. I have been declaring that he was the “cruel master” and “fierce king” of Isaiah 19. It appears now that I was wrong about Morsi being that leader. However, the overall prophecy of Isaiah 19, the “Arab Spring”chapter still holds.

The first three verses are already fulfilled and we now look elsewhere for verse four, unless Morsi has an amazing recovery of power. Who will the army choose to lead Egypt? Will he be the cruel master, fierce king; or will it be someone who follows him? You can be sure that the prophecy of Scripture will be fulfilled. The chaos and divisions are not going to heal themselves. More to come.

The burden against Egypt. Behold, Yehovah rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst. “I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; Everyone will fight against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor,

City against city, kingdom against kingdom. The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, and they will consult the idols and the charmers, the mediums and the sorcerers. Isaiah 19:1-3

Egypt in Free Falll

28 06 2013

APTOPIX-Mideast-Egypt_Horo1-635x357Today’s blaring headline in The Times of Israel:

Two dead, including US citizen, in clashes across Egypt: Israeli analyst: Egypt is in a free fall; 70 people injured, protesters storm 3 Muslim Brotherhood offices, torch ruling party headquarters in Alexandria. Two people are dead and over 70 people injured across Egypt Friday in clashes between supporters and opponents of the country’s Islamist president.

The article goes on to quote Israel’s Channel 2 News “Egypt is in a free fall,” commented Channel 2′s Arab affairs analyst Ehud Ya’ari Friday evening.”

And this is only Friday night. The big anti-government protests are scheduled for Sunday, the first anniversary of Mohammed Morsi, Egypt’s President from the ranks of the Muslim Brotherhood. There are calls for millions of Egyptians to protest all over the country. Will this be a reversal of the Arab Spring revolution? No, it will not. My opinion is based on Isaiah 19, which I call the Arab Spring prophecy. I have written much about it already. Here is a link to the eight-step timeline in my May 8, 2013 commentary. That blog also has links to my previous posts on the same subject.

All of this is clarified by simply reading Isaiah 19. Please read it prayerfully, as a watchman on the wall. Here are just the first four verses.

The burden against Egypt.

Behold, Yehovah rides on a swift cloud,
And will come into Egypt;
The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence,
And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.
“I will set Egyptians against Egyptians;
Everyone will fight against his brother,
And everyone against his neighbor,
City against city, kingdom against kingdom.
The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst;
I will destroy their counsel,
And they will consult the idols and the charmers,
The mediums and the sorcerers.
And the Egyptians I will give
Into the hand of a cruel master,
And a fierce king will rule over them,”
Says the Lord, Yehovah of hosts. Isaiah 19:1-4

Yehovah Rides into Egypt

3 05 2013

Arab SpringWe have been talking about the Arab Spring since 2011. Isaiah 19 is the prophetic description of an eight step time line of events that is now in step four. Today I will share a brief overview of those eight steps, but you need to read Isaiah 19 for yourself to get the full impact.

1. Yehovah Rides. It is God Himself who is bringing Egypt to its knees (verse 1)

2. Egyptians against Egyptians. Civil war and revolution. (verse 2)

3. Failure across the board. Tourism, economy, courts, crops, government. (verse 3)

We are now in the beginning of Step 4.

4. Cruel master/fierce king. New leader (Morsi) will be merciless, especially to Christians. (verse 4)

And the Egyptians I will give into the hand of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them,”

Says the Lord, Yehovah of hosts.

5. Nile River withers and dries up bring utter calamity. (verses 5-13)

6. Perverse spirit mingled in by Yehovah. (verse 14)

Yehovah has mingled a perverse spirit in her midst; and they have caused Egypt to err in all her work,

As a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

7. Fear and terror from hand of Yehovah. They will be terrified of the Jews and Israel. (verses 16-17)

8. NEW BEGINNINGS! Egypt will turn to Yehovah God of Israel and Yeshua (Jesus) the Savior. Salvation, deliverance and a merging with Israel and Syria in peace. (verses 18-25)

Egypt Erupts Again

10 10 2011

Egyptian mobs clashed with Christians today in day three of new anti-Christian riots. Dozens are dead with hundreds injured. It is time to conclude that the Egyptian Arab Spring has not led to freedom of religion and speech for Egypt’s ten million Christians. The opposite is evidenced by a downward spiral of violence (ABC video link) led by the real new freedom of Muslim fanatics. The army not only does not restrain, but often encourages this new “liberty” for sectarian violence.

The deadly clashes between Egypt’s Copt minority and security forces further stress what should have been clear for a while now: America’s insistence on President Hosni Mubarak’s ouster helped create a catastrophe, with Israel’s southern neighbor increasingly descending into the throes of chaos. (from Ynetnews.com article: Paying the Obama Price by Yigal Walt)

Meanwhile, the Muslim Brotherhood waits in the wings for the November 28 elections when they will likely assume rule over all of Egypt. Israel’s Embassy in Cairo has closed twice in as many months due to mob violence. The gas pipeline from Egypt to Israel and Jordan was bombed six times this year leading to much higher gas prices for Israel. Add increased Egyptian troops in Sinai after the terrorist attack into Israel, and you have clear escalation of tensions. Even more menacing reports detail sophisticated weapons now flowing freely from Libya through Egypt to Hamas in Gaza.

So how does this relate to Bible prophecy? This is another step toward the impending Psalm 83 War. The Palestinian flag is waving over more demonstrations around the world. Lebanon has fallen to radical Hezbollah. Syria is teetering on the brink and Saudi Arabia is now facing unrest from Shiites in the northeast. Even Jordan is threatened. Events are happening so fast that the following scripture is fulfilled before our eyes.

“Behold, the days are coming,” says Yehovah, “When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it.Amos 9:13

This passage in Amos refers to the restoration of Israel after their scattering to all nations that lasted nearly 2,000 years. However, I see in the phrase: “the plowman overtakes the reaper” a commentary on the Arab Spring. Before the expected democratic “fruit” could be seen, it was plowed under by the radical Muslim mobs. Yet, in Israel there is much fruit harvested to the ultimate glory of Yehovah God and to His Son, Jesus; Yeshua ben Yehovah.

As we celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles this week, we not only look back to the tabernacle of Moses in the wilderness. We joyfully look ahead to that glorious day when our holy God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will tabernacle with the redeemed for all eternity. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
