Syria: Not World War III

27 08 2013

Flickr_-_Israel_Defense_Forces_-_188th_Brigade_Training_Day_March_2008-cropped-195x110When the media goes after a story like sharks with blood in the water, we need to step back for some Biblical prophetic context. This Syria saber-rattling is not the end of the world or Armageddon. Prophetically, we have a way to go yet.

For several years I have explained Psalm 83. It describes a regional war against Israel that ends with the coalition members attacking each another and Israel winning decisively. The later Ezekiel 38 War of Gog and Magog is the big one. An essential difference between the two is that the list of attackers in Psalm 83 is not even mentioned in Ezekiel. Completely different countries are involved. Also, Israel is dwelling in peace and safety and un-walled villages before the big one. A third consideration is the destruction of Damascus in Isaiah 17 which may be near in the first coming war.

Therefore, this is not the end of the world, but it is setting the stage. We are coming into the holy season of the Feast of Tabernacles in Leviticus 23. The Yom Kippur War of 1973 was 40 years ago to the day of this year’s Yom Kippur, starting at sundown Friday September 13 to sundown September 14. While some would make something superstitious of Friday the 13th, the Biblical interest is that 1973 and 2013 both occur on the Sabbath. Given the context of the Syria civil war, we should be in much prayer about this year’s Yom Kippur.

“For the pillars of the earth are Yehovah’s, and He has set the world upon them. He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked shall be silent in darkness. For by strength no man shall prevail. The adversaries of Yehovah shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them. Yehovah will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to His king, and exalt the horn of His anointed.” 1 Samuel 2:8b-10

My Oops!

23 08 2013

red faceBoy is my face red. Doreen says I am not allowed to do my own math anymore. I can only quote math statistics from a reliable source (other than myself).

My math was completely wrong in my last post. Since 1994 the US has given the equivalent of $2,150.00 for each person in the West Bank and Gaza. I had way too many zeroes. Please accept my humble apology.

Special thanks to Vinson, a faithful brother, for being the first person to catch my mistake. “A brother helped by a brother is as a strong and high city; and is as strong as a well-founded palace.” Proverbs 18:19 (Septuagint translation.)

The chart and the articles linked in my post are still good information.

Clinging to grace and mercy….

I Did the Math

22 08 2013

Sub AD 120912_PA-Answer-To-Peace-Offers-Billboard_7_2012Several Palestinian news stories intersected for me yesterday. First, I read a story on Israel National News about the Palestinian Authority: Jailed PA Murderers Make $3,400 a Month. Terrorists in Israeli prison receive twice or three times the salary of normal PA government workers.

Then, I saw another story on the same site: U.S. Giving PA $148M. The article suggests that it was the price the US paid to get the Palestinians to show up at the peace talks.  The astounding last line of the short report shocked me. “Since 1994, the year that followed the signing of the Oslo accords that created the PA, the Authority has received about $4.3 billion.”

So I wondered how many Palestinians live under the PA West Bank government. I did a simple search and found this article at the site of another Israeli paper, Haaretz. How many Palestinians actually live in the West Bank? The story quotes two sources of population estimates. The PA count is about 2.5 million, but a more realistic count is a million less, at 1.5 million.

The American-Israel Demographic Research Group has been trying for eight years to prove that the Palestinians have managed, with great sophistication, to inflate their true population by 1 million people, and that the real figure currently stands at about 1.5 million people.

(UPDATE August 23 – The numbers in the next paragraph were wrong. The corrected numbers are in red. Please forgive my poor math.)

Let’s do the math using a mid-range of 2 million Palestinians. 4.3 billion dollars over 10 years means 2.15 million dollars (corrected amount is $2,150.00) total for every Palestinian man, woman and child. Then divide that by ten years and you have $215,000.00 per person (corrected amount is $215.00) each year. A family of 5 multiplies that number by 5. Ten family members = 2.15 million dollars (corrected amount is $2,150.00) a year! And this only figures what the US has given, not including the EU, the UN and all the Muslim countries.

What is wrong with this picture? Do you really think the Palestinian leaders want to change the playing field to make peace with Israel? Keep in mind that the people live near the poverty line.

“Thus will I accomplish My wrath on the wall and on those who have plastered it with untempered mortar; and I will say to you, ‘The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it, that is, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her when there is no peace,’ ” says the Lord Yehovah. Ezekiel 13:15-16

Pray for the real peace of Jerusalem, the Messiah! Jesus, the Son of God. Yeshua ben Yehovah!

800+ Dead in Egypt

17 08 2013

Egypt police truckThis is just a quick reminder that Yehovah God is on the throne. Nearly a thousand dead in three days by some estimates and over a thousand by others. The army gives lower numbers than the Muslim Brotherhood. Yet, Isaiah 19 still describes exactly what is happening.

For the past year it looked like Morsi would be the “cruel master” and “fierce king”. Now, it is looking more like General Sissi is the one.

And the Egyptians I will give Into the hand of a cruel master, And a fierce king will rule over them,” Says the Lord, Yehovah of hosts. Isaiah 19:4

The General, called the “new king of Egypt” by the Jerusalem Post, has cracked down in a few weeks with much more force than Morsi had in a year. Here is excellent analysis from The Times of Israel.

el-SissiEl-Sissi will not be deterred The heavy use of force by Egyptian police has reignited Muslim Brotherhood protests and brought criticism at home and abroad. But the strongman is unmoved, and much of Egypt is with him. (Read the article at this link.)

Two collateral effects of this brewing Egyptian civil war are the damage to the Christians of Egypt and the treaty with Israel. Over 40 churches were burned in the last three days. Here is the latest list from Jihad Watch.

Israel is watching closely to see the implications for the treaty in a “delicate balancing act”.

We must pray faithfully for the Christians of Egypt and other Muslim countries.

We must pray faithfully for the salvation of Muslims. AND…

We must pray faithfully for peace, protection and continued blessing of Yehovah on His beloved Israel.

No Jews in Palestine

6 08 2013

Mahmoud-Abbas-GettyABBAS: THERE WILL BE NO ISRAELIS IN ‘PALESTINE’: “In a final resolution, we would not see the presence of a single Israeli – civilian or soldier – on our lands,” Abbas told reporters in Cairo on Monday. The statement was a difficult one for Israelis to swallow, especially since one of Abbas’ peace demands is that Israel will provide thousands more work permits to Palestinian laborers and open its gates to settlement by millions of so-called “Palestinian refugees.” But that the Palestinians expect their future state to be Judenrein – cleansed of Jews – was never in doubt. Even now, Jews are not permitted to live inside the PA-controlled territory, and the sale of land to Jews is punishable by death. Abbas also told Cairo journalists, “East Jerusalem will be the capital of the Palestinian state.” Observers note that while the future “Palestine” in the PA head’s vision is apparently to be “Judenrein” (“Jew-free” in the German term employed by the Nazis) Israel will, of course, remain anything but “Arabrein.” Arabs make up about 20% of the Jewish state, enjoy full equal rights and regularly elect representatives to the Knesset who openly despise the state in whose parliament they serve, support terrorists and issue calls to their fellow Arabs to rise up against the Jewish state. (INN) “Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.Psalm 124:6 (This is quoted from Barry Segal at Jerusalem News Network)

“If it had not been Yehovah who was on our side,”

Let Israel now say—

“If it had not been Yehovah who was on our side,

When men rose up against us,

Then they would have swallowed us alive,

When their wrath was kindled against us;

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,

The stream would have gone over our soul;

 Then the swollen waters

Would have gone over our soul.”

 Blessed be Yehovah,

Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;

The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

God’s Way for Israel vs Man’s Way

31 07 2013

GolanThis is a follow-up to last week’s post: A Peace to End All Peace. Here is more clarity about the futility of the present peace process. Israel Today Magazine this week featured the following headline.

PA minister: New peace talks will help us conquer Israel later. The story continues: Palestinian Authority Minister of Religious Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash reassured everyone last week that the political peace process is just a ruse, and part of a larger scheme to defeat their enemy.

The most amazing part of the story is that the sermon was given with President Abbas sitting in attendance and it was broadcast on official Palestinian TV with no denials. Palestinian proclamations in Arabic are routinely missed or ignored by Western media. This example occurs in the same week as the new peace process meetings began in Washington, DC.

Here is an Israel Today Aug 2 update on five flaws of Kerry’s peace process.

My assignment as a Christian Zionist is to declare the Biblical revelation of God’s peace, which is distinctly opposite man’s plans. Here is the Biblical position with my emphasis.

“I will strengthen Judah and save Israel; I will restore them because of my compassion. It will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am Yehovah their God, who will hear their cries. The people of Israel will become like mighty warriors, and their hearts will be made happy as if by wine. Their children, too, will see it and be glad; their hearts will rejoice in Yehovah. When I whistle to them, they will come running, for I have redeemed them. From the few who are left, they will grow as numerous as they were before. Though I have scattered them like seeds among the nations, they will still remember me in distant lands. They and their children will survive and return again to Israel. I will bring them back from Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will resettle them in Gilead and Lebanon until there is no more room for them all. They will pass safely through the sea of distress, for the waves of the sea will be held back, and the waters of the Nile will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be crushed, and the rule of Egypt will end. By my power I will make my people strong, and by my authority they will go wherever they wish. I, Yehovah, have spoken!” Zechariah 10:6-12 NLT

A Peace to End All Peace

26 07 2013
Last week, the European Union declared a sweeping new position:

New EU directive bars all dealings with Israeli-held areas over the pre-1967 lines

Jerusalem source calls move ‘earthquake’; future deals with Europe will require Israel to acknowledge West Bank is outside the state.

This is so hypocritical I hardly know what to say. The directive is not just about the West Bank, but includes East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights where nearly 750,000 Jews live and work. Europe demands that Israel sign all future economic agreements “acknowledging” that even the Western Wall of the Temple Mount is OUTSIDE THE STATE OF ISRAEL!   Even the Palestinians reject the idea:

The new directive, which forbids nations in the euro zone from doing business with “Jewish settlers,” will not only weaken those Israeli companies, but will have a major negative impact on the Palestinian economy, as many thousands of Palestinian Arabs work for those very same companies.

Israel Today Magazine quotes from a history classic by David Fromkin with the same title as this post: A Peace to End All PeaceThe title is a great play on the famous quote about the first World War as “the war to end all wars.” At over 600 pages, it is a comprehensive study of that war and especially the resulting effects on the Middle East.

The conclusion reported in Israel Today grabbed my attention.

The fact that almost 100,000 people have already died in Syria doesn’t seem to bother the EU as much as where Jews build their homes. Nor do the hundreds of dead Egyptians and a new wave of terrorist activity in Sinai seem to be giving international law-abiding EU legislators any sleepless nights in the way that Jewish “settlements” seem to do.

Maybe it’s time for someone to remind Europe of its responsibility for the chronic instability in the Middle East, much of which can be traced back to bored French and English clerks who drew straight lines on their maps to create countries out of nothing. Maybe they should be reminded of David Fromkin’s book, A Peace to End All Peace, and in taking responsibility work to ease tensions instead of inflaming the region by taking the easy path of blaming Israel for everything.

The Middle East is on fire and all the EU cares about is blasting Israel. And, by the way, that EU directive was announced on the 9th of Av, the same day John Kerry arrived in Israel to restart the peace process. So what does the Bible say about the peace process?

“Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying, ‘Peace!’ when there is no peace—and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar— say to those who plaster it with untempered mortar, that it will fall.” Ezekiel 13:10-11

Untempered mortar is mortar without enough water to harden properly. This peace plaster does not have the Holy Spirit in it and it will certainly fail! It is nothing but a seductive temptation. We need to pray that Prime Minister Netanyahu will see the trap and avoid it.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Psalm 83 As a Prayer

11 07 2013

thumbnail.aspxWe have been talking about the Psalm 83 War prophecy for several years, but what is the particular prophetic prayer purpose of the Psalm?

We know it predicts a war against Israel that has not yet been completed. It names the specific nations attacking using ancient names which translate to the ones immediately surrounding Israel today. They are a confederacy, not a union. They attack Israel because they hate Yehovah, God of Israel. Their goal is to utterly defeat Israel so that even its name will be forgotten.

Yet, Psalm 83 is a prayer. What is the Psalmist requesting? Essentially, the supplication is revealed in verses 9-12:

Deal with them as with Midian, as with Sisera, as with Jabin at the Brook Kishon, who perished at En Dor, who became as refuse on the earth. Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, “Let us take for ourselves the pastures of God for a possession.” Psalm 83:9-12

The source story of Midian’s defeat by Gideon in Judges 7 holds the key.

When the three hundred blew the trumpets, Yehovah set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; Judges 7:22

Later we learn that 120,00 Middianites had fallen in the initial confusion fighting one another. Gideon pursued 15,000 who had temporarily escaped with their kings and princes before being killed.

Now Zebah and Zalmunna were at Karkor, and their armies with them, about fifteen thousand, all who were left of all the army of the people of the East; for one hundred and twenty thousand men who drew the sword had fallen. Judges 8:10

The other reference is to Sisera and Jabin in the account of Deborah, Judge of Israel from Judges chapters 4 and 5. That battle also resulted in an overwhelming victory and rout for Israel against all odds.

So we conclude that the prayer of Psalm 83 is:

1. A supernatural victory granted by Yehovah, Himself.

2. It will be a rout of the enemy.

3. It will involve the enemy fighting and killing each other. (Another example of this type of battle is found in 2 Chronicles 20 where three armies attacking Israel, instead fought one another and “none escaped”!

4. Yet, Israel’s army will finish the job. I submit to you that this is exactly what is now happening in the Middle East. It is happening in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and now even in Jordan. It is also seen in the division between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.

Egypt in Free Falll

28 06 2013

APTOPIX-Mideast-Egypt_Horo1-635x357Today’s blaring headline in The Times of Israel:

Two dead, including US citizen, in clashes across Egypt: Israeli analyst: Egypt is in a free fall; 70 people injured, protesters storm 3 Muslim Brotherhood offices, torch ruling party headquarters in Alexandria. Two people are dead and over 70 people injured across Egypt Friday in clashes between supporters and opponents of the country’s Islamist president.

The article goes on to quote Israel’s Channel 2 News “Egypt is in a free fall,” commented Channel 2′s Arab affairs analyst Ehud Ya’ari Friday evening.”

And this is only Friday night. The big anti-government protests are scheduled for Sunday, the first anniversary of Mohammed Morsi, Egypt’s President from the ranks of the Muslim Brotherhood. There are calls for millions of Egyptians to protest all over the country. Will this be a reversal of the Arab Spring revolution? No, it will not. My opinion is based on Isaiah 19, which I call the Arab Spring prophecy. I have written much about it already. Here is a link to the eight-step timeline in my May 8, 2013 commentary. That blog also has links to my previous posts on the same subject.

All of this is clarified by simply reading Isaiah 19. Please read it prayerfully, as a watchman on the wall. Here are just the first four verses.

The burden against Egypt.

Behold, Yehovah rides on a swift cloud,
And will come into Egypt;
The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence,
And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.
“I will set Egyptians against Egyptians;
Everyone will fight against his brother,
And everyone against his neighbor,
City against city, kingdom against kingdom.
The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst;
I will destroy their counsel,
And they will consult the idols and the charmers,
The mediums and the sorcerers.
And the Egyptians I will give
Into the hand of a cruel master,
And a fierce king will rule over them,”
Says the Lord, Yehovah of hosts. Isaiah 19:1-4

Annex the West Bank

24 06 2013

Israeli flag flutters over view of Jewish settlement of OfraThere is a time for everything under the sun, according to King Solomon:

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

It is time to annex Judea and Samaria which the world calls the West Bank. The Oslo accords have failed. The two-state plan has failed. The Middle East is on fire with the Muslim Brotherhood taking over another state every few months. Arab citizens of Israel are the only Arabs enjoying freedom, peace and liberty. Most Palestinians would be far better off as citizens of Israel. The fumbling obstinate dictatorship of Abbas is no solution. And if he achieved Palestinian statehood, he would be immediately overthrown by Hamas. It is time for Israel to act proactively. Many Israeli’s are ready for a bold solution. Even leaders in the government and the Knesset are speaking openly about annexation.

HotovelyDeputy Transportation Minister MK Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) said on Sunday that it was time that the Israeli government take steps to annex Judea and Samaria, even if it comes with the price of giving citizenship to Arabs residing in these areas. Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Hotovely said that offering citizenship to Palestinian Authority Arabs would be a small price pay for ending the status quo which brings international criticism of Israel, viewed as an “occupier” in Judea and Samaria. (INN 6/24/2013)

Bayit Yehudi head, Economics Minister Naftali Bennett, said Monday that the idea of establishing a Palestinian state has reached a dead end and should be forsaken. “Never in the history of Israel has so much energy been invested in something so pointless,” Bennett said at a conference on the Jewish settlers in Judea and Samaria and their depiction in the media. (INN 6/17/2013,)

Op-Ed: Annexation: Should Israel Make Her Move Now? by Ron Jager in Israel National News. In recent weeks and months, public leaders and leading journalists affiliated with the settlement movement have called for annexing and incorporating all of Judea and Samaria into Israel. In response to the chaos and weakness of the Arab nations surrounding Israel and the preoccupation of the Western world with the ongoing genocide in Syria, they claim that now is the time to be proactive and go on the offensive and do what will be inevitably done anyway probably under less favorable conditions for Israel. (INN 6/20/2013)

At the same time as these discussions President Bill Clinton visited Israel this week in what I can only call a flashback to 1993. He is lost in the past of his dream of the Oslo accords. Under the headline: Clinton: Israel Must Make Peace or Disappear, Breitbart.com reported: In a speech that will no doubt incentivize Palestinians to continue their campaign of terror and warfare against Israel, former President Bill Clinton told Israel that it would have to make peace with the Palestinians if it wanted to remain Jewish and democratic. (See Palestinian reaction here.)

Even as far back as April 2011, the idea of annexation was gaining momentum as seen in this story about two members of Knesset and a bill proposing annexation.

MK Danon preparing bills to annex West Bank, repeal Oslo Accords; move intended to convince EU to stop UN vote on Palestinian statehood. Ideas about annexing parts of the West Bank that until recently were considered extreme have been gaining traction in the Knesset in recent weeks as the Palestinian Authority continues threatening to declare a state unilaterally in September. National Infrastructures Minister Uzi Landau raised the idea at Israel Beiteinu’s convention in Jerusalem two weeks ago. (Jerusalem Post 4/26/2011)

It is time for Israel to annex Judea and Samaria politically, demographically and most important prophetically.

And I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. Ezekiel 37:22

We’ve Come This Far by Faith

20 06 2013

383006-R1-18-18_019 - CopyI met my wife, Doreen, in Bible College in the ’60s beginning a life of faith together in marriage June 11, 1967. That date may ring a bell for you. It was the end of the miraculous Six Day War, Israel’s amazing victory. My life verse came into focus in those days from the book of Hebrews’ epic “faith chapter”.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

Faith has two necessary parts. Until then, I thought it was enough to believe in God. Yet, this verse declares more; extending faith’s definition. Faith requires believing that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. This is God’s character. He rewards our pursuit of Him. If you don’t believe that, you simply do not have Biblical faith. The rest of Hebrews 11 is a profound testimonial to the point. Another verse confirms that believing “in” God is not enough. Demons know God exists, but that certainly does not save them!

You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe–and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? James 2:19-20

The “works” of faith spoken here is not good deeds, but the second part of faith: GOD IS A REWARDER!

Back at Berkshire Christian College, our favorite chorus had these words: We’ve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord. Trusting in His Holy Word, we’ve come this far by faith, woe-oh-o-oh, woe-oh-o-oh, shadows around me, we’ve come this far by faith.

If you have read any of my five published books, you know I end every chapter with the phrase: GOD IS FAITHFUL! Let me explain why I do that. We do not only believe in God’s existence, we believe in His fully demonstrated character to respond to the cry of any person looking for Him. That character trait distinguishes Yehovah, the God of the Bible (of both Christians and Jews), from all false gods, pretenders and usurpers.

I challenge you to put Him to the test. No matter what you are going through, He is there. He will respond. Call to Him. He is faithful, even when we are not.

As we pray for Israel, we need to apply our faith. We also need to pray for their faith, surrounded by hostile enemies with some flying the Palestinian flag in the midst of God’s land. Pray that Israeli leaders and people will call on the name of the living God for their deliverance from those who would drive them into the sea.

Where is Israel?

15 05 2013

UNRWA map PATV, 030513Look carefully at the picture. Where is Israel? This is a map of “Palestine”. There is no Israel on this map. This photo, snapped at a United Nations event in Lebanon on May 3, 2013 exposes the hypocrisy of the United Nations.

At the official launch of two German-funded UNRWA projects in southern Lebanon, Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Ann Dismorr, posed with a map that erases the State of Israel and presents all of it as “Palestine.” The map includes both the Palestinian Authority areas as well as all of Israel. Above the map is the Palestinian flag and the inscription “Arab Palestine.” The text at the bottom of the map also says “Palestine.” The neighboring countries Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are all named on the map as is the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is not mentioned or designated anywhere. Palwatch.org(This story was also carried on theBlaze.com).

There are some who would like to abolish UNRWA, but it is not likely with the UN dominated by 57 Islamic nations in the General Assembly. The UN has two relief committees, one for the Palestinians and one for all the rest of the refugees in the whole world. The deck is stacked against Israel. So, it is up to supporters of Israel to continue to speak up for her right to exist.

Since 1950, US taxpayers have provided four billion dollars for the United Nations Relief and Works. Reports from the Global Research in International Affairs have disclosed that UNRWA actually helps promotes terrorism and holds Palestinians back from building their lives. It charged UNRWA schools with being hotbeds of anti-American, and antisemitic indoctrination and recruiting offices for terrorist groups. The above article is simply additional evidence to support such claims. Pray for this organization to be further exposed with drastic declines in funding. Jerusalem News Network

No Weapon Can Stand Against Israel

12 04 2013

Christians have long used the verse from Isaiah to proclaim God’s protection. Actually, it is a promise directly to Israel that applies now more  than ever. There are still 10,000 rockets targeting Israel in Gaza, and intelligence experts agree that 70,000 rockets and missiles are in the hands of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. This verse certainly can apply also to Christians who are “grafted in” to Israel, but the historical application is the nation of Israel.

But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of Yehovah; their vindication will come from me. I, Yehovah, have spoken! Isaiah 54:17 NLT

IDF 130409_gantzHow wonderful to hear a reference to this verse from the mouth of Israeli army chief Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz. He recently spoke at a Holocaust remembrance Day observance at the Auschwitz Death Camp:

Speaking to a large number of Israeli, Jewish and non-Jewish dignitaries, Gantz echoed Isaiah 54:17 in declaring that “there is no weapon or evil intention that can stand” against Israel. Gantz said the presence of Israeli Jewish soldiers in Auschwitz, along with their supporters, was “living proof of the victory of light, the victory of morality, [and] the triumph of Israel.” Israel Today

As the storm clouds gather around Israel it is comforting to rest on this promise. Please continue in faithful prayer and intercession on behalf of Israel. We also proactively stand for Israel by speaking truth against the growing anti-Israel propaganda. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Jesus is the real Prince of Peace, Yeshua Sar Shalom.

Time to Favor Israel

1 04 2013

536748_385193128190099_100000982451242_1074228_1062423626_nDuring Passover, the Jewish population of Israel has passed the symbolic 6 million mark – the same number of Jews believed to have been killed during the Nazi Holocaust – while the country’s total population is now 8 million. Israel now has the world’s largest community of Jews, replacing the US (5.5 million, with 2 million in New York City alone), France (500,000, mostly in Paris) and Canada (380,000, primarily in Toronto). Britain has 290,000 Jews, most of them concentrated in London. According to the Interior Ministry, Israel’s non-Jewish population comprises about 1.6 million Arabs and 350,000 non-Arab Christians plus those listed as “others.” (International Business Times/Ha’aretz) Barry Segal, Vision For Israel

Lift up your eyes and look around; all your sons gather and come to you.  As surely as I live, declares Yehovah, you will wear them all as ornaments; you will put them on, like a bride. Isa 49:17-18

Israel’s restoration is in full swing as Yehovah fulfills His promise to favor Zion.

You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come. Psalm 102:13

Not only is God bringing back Israel from all the nations, but He is prospering her. He did not regather Israel to kill them. (That is Islam’s goal.) God has brought them back to re-establish a Jewish state in the specific ancient geographical location of Israel. There is an excellent article by Daniel Pipes that you should read here: Obama to Palestinians: Accept the Jewish State.

Also, read the companion list with the historical quotes confirming that from the 1800’s the plan has always been for a Jewish state in the Holy Land, here: Recognizing Israel as the Jewish State.

Finally we rejoice with Israelis today as the natural gas from the Tamar field is now flowing to Ashdod and will eventually make Israel energy independent and a gas exporter in the global market. God is indeed favoring Zion. Hallelujah!

Happy Passover

26 03 2013

Passover 2013

Today is the first day of Passover 2013. This picture is a great reminder of our responsibility to fully share our faith with our children and grandchildren. We commit to training them in the ways of the Lord. As the old saying goes: God doesn’t have any grandchildren. Our children need to see our faith, touch our faith, feel our faith. They will know the security of our love; and as our arms surround them, the Lord will protect them and call them to Himself.

Yet, we cannot save them, or make the choices for them. They must choose life, each one individually. Our job is to make the choices stark. Today’s young people will not learn moral clarity from their friends or TV or the Internet. They will learn it best from us.

Put your hands on the wall. Touch the wall. Stand by the firm foundations of our faith. It is that secure, peaceful faith in Yehovah God and His Son, Yeshua the Messiah Jesus that will inspire and light the way for the next generation. Be bold, with no apologies for your faith. Let them see Him, let them touch Him for themselves.

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. and you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says Yehovah. Jeremiah 29:12-14

Even though we can apply this to our personal faith walk, this promise is in the context of the restoration of Israel. Jeremiah completes his thought with the great covenant of the faithful God of Israel to bring them back. Not only from Babylon singly, but from all the nations, where He has scattered them! Hallelujah!

and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says Yehovah, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive. Jeremiah 29:14

Thank you Father God for the Passover Lamb, Jesus. He came. He died. He rose again from the grave. The tomb is empty; Jesus is ALIVE!

We now know that when Jesus said: “This do in remembrance of Me”, the “this” referred to the Passover. So when we celebrate the Passover this year, or communion next time, we “do this” in the full historical and prophetic meaning of the Passover as we remember His sacrifice. Thank you, Jesus!

New Israeli Government Welcomes Obama

18 03 2013

Obama in Israel “Unbreakable Alliance” is the official logo to welcome US President Obama to Israel on Wednesday. The new Israeli government was voted in by the Knesset at 6 pm today, only 54 hours before the first Obama visit to Israel as President.

Prime Minister Netanyahu will preside over a stable government united in its stance toward Iran’s nuclear threats, the expected “Topic One” for this summit.

The President will be in the area from Wednesday through Friday, also meeting with Palestinian Authority leader Abbas in Ramallah. A detailed chronological itinerary is available here for your intercessory prayer points.

Obama Mideast-Israel-Palest_Horo-1-140x140All is not rosy, however. A poster of President Obama was torn down in Bethlehem on Monday and defaced with swastikas and an “X” over his face. Later an official Palestinian car drove over it in protest. Shoes were thrown at other posters in acts of disrespect common in Arab culture. (On a personal note: Now that we have nine chickens, and I have helped clean the coop, I understand the not so subtle offense intended by the bottom of the shoe tossed at an enemy.)

This week is full of prophetic significance. Israel’s future does not hang in the balance; God’s favor and future for Israel is etched in stone. It is America’s future that is unsure. How we treat Israel will be the absolute determining factor according to the real “unbreakable alliance” between Yehovah God and Israel:

And it shall come to pass that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, Let your hands be strong. Zechariah 8:13

A Prophetic Month of March

4 03 2013

egyptian-locust-0654One locust is a cute little grasshopper, when a locust cloud blocks out the sun and “Marches” across the land, you have a plague of Biblical proportions. It is happening, now, in Egypt. It fits with the Isaiah 19 “Arab Spring” judgements of God on Egypt. We are now living in prophecy fulfilled from day-to-day and month to month right before our eyes.

Swarm of Biblical proportions surprises local authorities and blankets the ground near Giza

Swarm of Biblical proportions surprises local authorities and blankets the ground near Giza

This month has the potential of epic events making history. Here is my view of what to watch for in March 2013.

1. Locust plague in Egypt.

2. Israeli Election: Prime Minister Netanyahu has two weeks to form the coalition to govern Israel.

3. The new Pope for 1.2 billion Roman Catholics will be chosen. Peter the Roman is now the interim Head of Vatican City.

4. President Obama will visit Israel March 20 (unless there is no new government by then).

5. Passover will completely dominate Israel’s schedule from March 25 to April 1. Christians will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on March 31.

Then throw into the mix the Iranian nuclear threat and Israel’s existential decision. Wow, what a month! Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Good News from Israel

25 02 2013

thumbnail.aspxSince so many of my posts are about wars and rumors of wars, I thought it would be good to share some good news from Israel. God said He would bless and favor Israel and the nations would benefit. We are living in the day of Yehovah’s restoration of Israel and Jerusalem as “a praise in the whole earth.” This favor will cause the nations to see that God is with Israel.

And it shall come to pass that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, let your hands be strong. Yes, many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek Yehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before Yehovah. Zechariah 8:13

Thus says Yehovah of hosts: “In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” Zechariah 8:22-23

1. It now appears that Prime Minister Netanyahu will be able to form the coalition he needs to form the new government (after some serious doubts during the negotiations).

2. PM Netanyahu is already holding weekly Bible studies in his home and his office, but now the new Knesset has started weekly Bible sessions with 30 members attending the first along with multiple staff people joining. There is a new wind (of the Holy Spirit) blowing in Israel. Hallelujah!

3. Israel develops the next generation operating room, right out of Star Trek! Removes internal tumors and more without cutting the body. Must watch this video.

4. Today Israel successfully tested it Arrow 3 anti-missile missile. It is the most advanced system in the world.

5. God’s much repeated Biblical strategy appears once again in modern Israel. Israel’s enemies turn on one another.

Now when they began to sing and to praise, Yehovah set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. 2 Chronicles 20:22-24

From Knives to Nuclear Bombs

Convoy Israel Hit Carried SA-17 Rockets

Russian-made anti-aircraft rockets were intended for Hizbullah, could “change balance of power.”Israel National News reported late today that Israeli jets hit the convoy near the Syria/Lebanon border. Later reports are widely circulating that Israel hit a Syrian military facility, but I believe that is a lie to cover the successful raid on the SA-17 shipment, which are Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles. The report makes a strong case for the necessity of the attack: The sources said that the shipment was intended for Hizbullah and that, had they made it into the organization’s hands, the strategic balance of power in the region would have been altered.
There is a statement just hours before the strike by Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel, Commander of the IAF. The article and video interview is at this link. My title for today’s commentary came from this part of his interview:
What do we see in terms of military challenges? We need to deal with a wide range of enemies and rivals, from states to semi-states to organizations, terror etc. We are dealing with the range between sub-conventional to unconventional. From the knife to the nuclear bomb.
The Times of Israel reported: A US official said the strike hit a convoy of trucks. They also made a good case against one theory that Israel had attacked a chemical shipment. When you put today’s strike in the context of several cross-border incidents in the Golan from Syria and the deployment of Israel’s Iron Dome defensive missile shield also in the Golan, it adds up to serious war preparations. Residents of northern Israel are beginning to call for more gas masks in a story in Israel Today.
Then Yehovah spoke to me again and asked, “What do you see now?” And I replied, “I see a pot of boiling water, spilling from the north.” Jeremiah 1:13 NLT
The burden against Damascus. “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap. Isaiah 17:1 NKJV
These verses leap from the prophetic scriptures along with Psalm 83 as prophecy marches out right before our eyes. Here is a Jerusalem Post report from later in the day.

A New Season

22 01 2013

Here is a personal view of the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast I attended yesterday in Washington, DC. In a whirlwind trip, I drove up to DC, attended seven hours of meetings and returned to Raleigh in only 18 hours.

My first highlight was the worship I had in my car driving through Sunday night. Then, the harp and bowl worship at the event was sweet with connections in the Spirit to new and old friends. The native American presence throughout the morning had great authority in Jesus. One Chief prayed with great power for our nation. Sid Roth’s prayer was also with deep passion and effectiveness.

The top moment was the keynote message by Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. He spoke as a prophet of old with a clarion call for our nation to turn back to God. His message fit into what I have heard about this new season. I believe we have turned a corner because of refusing to heed God’s warnings. Jonathan Cahn’s famous book, The Harbinger, details his message. There is also an online Harbinger video at this link.

New APPROVED link for Jonathan Cahn’s full message at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast.

Jesus and Mary as Weapons

24 12 2012

jesusandmary ‘Jesus and Mary have become weapons in hands of Israel-haters’

This is the headline in the Israel Today Magazine (12-23-12). Reading this quote (below) from the writer, Yossi Aloni, highlights a subject I have been planning to write about. It is known by several names: anti-Semitism, anti-Jew, and anti-Israel. By any name it has been around for thousands of years, but is now resurgent in Europe, the Middle East and even in America. This age old hatred is now nearing the levels of the rise of Hitler in Nazi Germany. Before I comment, here is the quote:

Anti-Israel activists in Ireland have printed and distributed Christmas greeting cards that claim if Mary, the mother of Jesus, was alive today, she would be unable to give birth to Jesus as documented in the New Testament because Israeli soldier would hold her up at the Bethlehem checkpoint as they do all Palestinian women.   These new greeting cards were announced the same weekend that the Israeli embassy in Ireland caused a storm by posting to its official Facebook page that if Mary and her baby, Jesus, were in Bethlehem today, they would likely be lynched as Jews. Shortly after, the embassy deleted the post and issued an apology.

This subject is on my heart today on Christmas Eve because it is prophetic fulfillment. The hatred expressed against Israel and all Jews everywhere has it source in the worst hatred of all: anti-God or more specifically, anti-Yehovah, God of Israel. The dots are connected beyond question in Psalm 83.

Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, and do not be still, O God! For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; and those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, and consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” Psalm 83:1-4

The enemies of Yehovah and His Son, Yeshua ben Yehovah (Jesus), hate God with an unquenchable fire of loathing. Yet, they cannot reach into Heaven and attack Him there, so they take it out on His chosen people, Israel and the Jews .

The fact of baby Jesus and Mary being used for propaganda is revealing. The lines are being drawn. Which side are you choosing? As for me and my house, we serve Yehovah, the Everlasting Faithful God of Israel. This is part one of my comments. Next time I will list and document examples of the growing anti-Israel actions around the world. Please continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem in this Christmas season. It is a person, Jesus Prince of Peace!

One quick good news report. The rains are returning to Israel. The seven year drought is broken. The Sea of Galilee is predicted to rise to its highest level in ten years by the end of the rainy season. Hallelujah!

I Am Israeli

14 12 2012

On rare occasions I find a way to express my love for and identification to the Israeli people. Today I share a video that does just that. This young lady reminds me of another one that Doreen and I met, in Samaria (West Bank) five years ago, who was amazed and moved to tears by the simple fact that we came… and cared…and loved.

This Hanukkah video is the true report of a real person, Einat Bloch Yefet, a young mother whose brother was murdered by terrorists in Gush Katif. She lived in Gush Katif in Gaza before the “disengagement” when all Jews were removed as a “gesture of Peace”. You know the rest of the story: Hamas took over and now fire rockets into Israel at civilians from closer range with no conscience. So, how do every day Israeli’s deal with it?

It is at times like this that I know that I am Israeli, not by genetics, but by the blood of Yeshua ben Yehovah. We “celebrate” Hanukkah and also Christmas, the birth of the Messiah, not with tinsel and glitter, but with a deep love for God. Yet our celebration is tempered with the sober joy of appreciation for life itself, given to all of us by the ONE Who is the Life-Giver! He is indeed inside of us. He will never leave us or forsake us, even to the end. Thank you Jesus!

“Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying, ‘Peace!’ when there is no peace—and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar — say to those who plaster it with untempered mortar, that it will fall.” Ezekiel 13:10

Impossible!

6 12 2012

palestinianflagThe Palestinian flag will never fly over Israel. Palestinian demands for “peace” are completely impossible. The land has been given by Yehovah God to Israel for an everlasting possession.

“Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” Genesis 17:8

Here are the practical reasons:

  1. No Jews allowed in Palestine.
  2. Five million Arabs must be allowed to move into Israel (Yes, Israel, not Palestine).
  3. A land corridor must DIVIDE Israel connecting Gaza and the West Bank, so Palestine will not be divided?!? What?
  4. Palestine borders make Israel indefensible.
  5. The last “talks” were held after Abbas demanded Israel declare a moratorium on building in the West Bank for ten months. Israel succumbed and Abbas still refused for eight months and then demanded Israel extend the moratorium, because two months was too short to talk. I am not making this up. You can see a pattern here. Abbas always adds conditions that are impossible for Israel to meet, although Israel repeatedly states it will meet anytime with no pre-conditions. Yet, the international response is to always condemn Israel for the failure to meet.
  6. Palestine in unilaterally upgraded to observer state status by the UN General Assembly and Israel announces new building projects the same week. Is Palestine condemned for its illegal violations of the Oslo Accords? Of course not, Israel is castigated for building homes for their citizens. The world is “outraged” and the US finds it “unhelpful” and it (building homes) will threaten the peace process! What peace process? The process was cancelled by the Palestinian Authority’s unilateral UN action.

This brings us to the two state solution. It is impossible. It is about Israel’s very right to exist, as a Jewish state, that is at stake here. Even the wisdom of Solomon cannot solve it. Remember the time two mothers claimed the same baby? The real mother refused to cut the baby in half, but lying woman was okay with that.

Some time later two prostitutes came to the king to have an argument settled. “Please, my lord,” one of them began, “this woman and I live in the same house. I gave birth to a baby while she was with me in the house. Three days later this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there were only two of us in the house. “But her baby died during the night when she rolled over on it. Then she got up in the night and took my son from beside me while I was asleep. She laid her dead child in my arms and took mine to sleep beside her. And in the morning when I tried to nurse my son, he was dead! But when I looked more closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn’t my son at all.” Then the other woman interrupted, “It certainly was your son, and the living child is mine.” “No,” the first woman said, “the living child is mine, and the dead one is yours.” And so they argued back and forth before the king.

Then the king said, “Let’s get the facts straight. Both of you claim the living child is yours, and each says that the dead one belongs to the other. All right, bring me a sword.” So a sword was brought to the king.
Then he said, “Cut the living child in two, and give half to one woman and half to the other!” Then the woman who was the real mother of the living child, and who loved him very much, cried out, “Oh no, my lord! Give her the child—please do not kill him!” But the other woman said, “All right, he will be neither yours nor mine; divide him between us!” Then the king said, “Do not kill the child, but give him to the woman who wants him to live, for she is his mother!” When all Israel heard the king’s decision, the people were in awe of the king, for they saw the wisdom God had given him for rendering justice.            1 Kings 3:16-28 NLT
That is exactly the choice for Israel. The ones who want to divide the Land of Israel for the sake of compromise, or what the world calls “peace,” are lying, and they are not the true heirs.  (from Aviel Schneider in Israel Today Magazine)

Face to Face

1 12 2012

Jacob & EsauThis morning I was reading the Times of Israel website and found an article about this week’s reading from the Torah, being read in Jewish congregations today. The writer’s favorite verse has a hidden meaning that does not come through in most English translations. It is in the story of Jacob and Esau, ending with Jacob wrestling with the angel of God (or even God Himself). The particular verse reveals Jacob’s plan to smooth his precarious reunion with Esau after many years and much antipathy. Jacob sends presents on ahead to indicated his positive intentions toward Esau. Here it is in New King James English.

For he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face; perhaps he will accept me.” Genesis 32:20b

What intrigues me is the fact that in the Hebrew text the word “face” is used four times. The author of the article describes it as alliteration. So, the use of the word “face” is the key.

Here is an English translation (YLT – Youngs Literal Translation) that comes close, using “face” three times. (I have used bold emphasis for the fourth.)

`I pacify his face with the present which is going before me, and afterwards I see his face; it may be he lifteth up my face;’ Genesis 32:20 YLT

Now here is what I am getting out of all this (if you are still with me). Jacob’s desire to be reconciled with Esau is understandable. He is seeking a sort of relational intimacy that was lost, which was not to be. Instead, Yehovah met Jacob that night and changed his name to Israel. The intimacy Jacob sought from Esau was instead provided by God Himself. Jacob’s name meant “supplanter”, one who took another’s place. But God gave him a new name, Israel, that means “prince with God”.

The key revelation is in verse 30. We need intimacy with God first and foremost. A human will never fulfill that deep inner need for fellowship with our Heavenly Father. Even politically, Israel is still trying to give “gifts” to placate “Esau” when what they really need is to walk with God.

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. Genesis 32:30

Peniel means “facing God”. Jacob named the spot Peniel because he had seen God “face to face”.

Each one of us is changed forever by the same experience. When we embrace Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah, the Saviour and the Promised One of Israel, we are saved. But more than being saved from Hell (fire insurance) we enter into that glorious intimacy of knowing God “face to face”. Jesus’ reason for coming was that we could know the Father. We are now part of God’s “forever family”. We are part of Israel by faith. Thank you Jesus for showing us your Father.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:6-7

Pillar of Fire Next?

27 11 2012

(These pictures from Reuters are of the same volcano day and night.)

Is Operation Pillar of Fire coming to Iran? In the aftermath of Operation Pillar of Cloud there are many “expert” opinions. Here is a simple review that answers the question of what is next?

Despite strong disappointment in Israel and elsewhere that the operation stopped short of toppling Hamas, there were solid results. Hamas is defanged, if only temporally. Most of their stock of Fajir-5 rockets were destroyed. The Western powers were generally supportive. Even President Obama clearly stated Israel’s right to defend itself from thousands of rockets targeting civilians. And all of this accomplished with relatively modest “collateral damage”.

Yet, the most important result affects Israel’s major goal, the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear threat. If, as many believe, that Israel will attack Iran’s facilities in the spring, it will be quite clear that the disarming of Hamas was timely indeed.

Some have asked me if the Gog and Magog War of Ezekiel 38 & 39 will break out this spring. It will not, because the Psalm 83 War comes first, when Israel will defeat the Arab nations immediately around her borders, listed in the Psalm. Then Israel will rule from the River of Egypt (Nile) to the great river, Euphrates (in eastern Syria) according to Genesis 15.

On the same day Yehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates”. Genesis 15:18

This promise has never been fully realized. Ezekiel lists the nations in the Gog/Magog War, including Iran, Turkey, Libya and Sudan. Where are the Psalm 83 nations in Ezekiel?

Therefore, the result of the Pillar of Fire (as good a name for it as I can think of), will be a neutralizing of Iran which will allow for Israel’s necessary victory of Psalm 83. Then after a period of real peace (see No Walls below) for Israel, Iran will be back with a new coalition of anti-Christ Muslim nations to try to finish Israel.

NO WALLSThus says the Lord Yehovah: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’” Ezekiel 38:10-11

40,000 Deaths Don’t Count?

19 11 2012

One cartoon is worth 1,000 lies

According to Wikipedia, between 40,000 and 52,000 Syrians have died in the 20 months of their bloody civil war. Yet, the news is blasting 24/7 about the 100 killed in Gaza. Why are there so many more stories about Gaza? It’s simple. It fits the narrative of bashing Israel. Since Israel is not involved in the Syrian civil war, those deaths don’t have the same propaganda value. Jeffrey Goldberg wrote in the Atlantic: The media is biased against Israel. Yes, got it. Yes, Israel is being judged harshly. Yes, I know that probably 300 people have been murdered in Syria since this Gaza affair started, and no one cares. An acquaintance of mine, a Syrian living in Beirut, wrote me in frustration about this last night. “We get very little interest from the international press compared to the Palestinians. What should we do to get more attention?” My advice is to get killed by Jews. Always works.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a compelling case in his recent video statement: “Hamas is guilty of double war crimes. They intentionally target Israeli civilians and they hide their rockets behind Palestinian civilians.”

The initial Gaza coverage was balanced, but is now turning against Israel. Look at this quote from China: China condemns Israel’s ‘over-use of force causing deaths and injuries amongst innocent ordinary people’. What are they thinking? Over 1500 rockets have been launched at Israeli civilians this year, over 1,000 this week. What exactly is “over-use of force” in the minds of Communist Chinese? I wonder how they would react to 1,500 incoming rockets? And why are Palestinians in Gaza (70% of whom voted Hamas into power) considered “innocent ordinary people”, when Hamas intentionally targets Israeli civilians?

Israel drops leaflets, calls cellphones and sends text messages to warn Gaza civilians to stay away from Hamas facilities and launch sites. Repeat after me: Israel defends itself by attacking terrorists, resulting in occasional civilian casualties, but Hamas intentionally targets Israeli civilians! Why is this so hard for media to grasp?

Consider the following quote from Avner Bosky (available in Nov 19 newsletter here)

It is difficult for many Westerners to understand the depths of religious hatred and motivation found throughout the Islamic and Arab world. These are directed sometimes at the West, sometimes at Russia, but always at Israel. The foundations of these attitudes are Koranic, and are amplified in the Islamic hadith (a kind of Oral Law compilation, considered authoritative by all Muslims). According to these perspectives, the Jewish people have no right to any part of the land of Israel, and it is the duty and obligation of all Muslims to wage jihad against the Jews and all who stand with them. It is not a war about borders, or about refugees, or about Western influence. It is a war of Islamist annihilation targeting Jews both in Israel and around the world.

  • Sheikh Hussein Massawi, former head of Hezbollah, declared regarding Israel, “We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you.”
  • Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, co-founder and former head of Hamas, announced, “Make no mistake. There will be no peace as long as there is a Zionist-Jewish state. Our holy goal is to liberate all of Palestine, and if the Jews do not go, they will die. All of Palestine is Islamic land – every inch.”
  • Articles 6 of Hamas 1988 constitution declares that “Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it … The Islamic Resistance Movement…strives to raise the banner of All-h over every inch of Palestine.”
  • Article 8 is the official slogan of Hamas, and it is not ashamed to announce that  All-h is our goal, the Prophet our model, the Qur’an our Constitution, Jihad our path and death for the cause of All-h our most sublime belief.”  This last point (Article 8) is also the slogan of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood.

(My custom to use the name of the God of Israel, Yehovah has been explained in my previous blog. The reason I do not spell out the name of the pagan god of Islam is taken from five Scriptures. The first is:
And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth. Exodus 23:13)

240 Rockets = Pillar of Cloud

14 11 2012

More than 240 rockets from Gaza landed in Israel since Saturday prompting today’s Israeli Operation Pillar of Cloud. It is likely only the beginning of a much wider conflict and possibly war. Depending on the next round of reprisals from Hamas, this could expand to include Hezbollah from Lebanon, Syria and even Egypt. Once again we are on the precipice of the Psalm 83 War.

Over 160 rocket fell in four days and then 80 more today in Israel. Enough is enough! What country on earth would stand by while under such an unrelenting attack? Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says
“those who think they can disrupt life in the south and get away with it are mistaken.” (Update: Now over 400 rockets in six days since Saturday.)

Update #2 Click this link for a live thread detailing today’s events.

Today Israel took out “number one “on their Most Wanted Terrorist list. Ahmed Jabari was the head of the Hamas military wing. He was successfully targeted by an Israeli missile this morning. Pray for wisdom from Yehovah, God of Israel and His Son, Yeshua ben Yehovah.

And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. – Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that Yehovah looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. Exodus 14:19-20, 24

And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, Yehovah, are among these people; that You, Yehovah, are seen face to face and Your cloud stands above them, and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. Numbers 14:14

William Shakespeare learned while writing his tragedies that some people would laugh at a death scene unless preceded by a silly jester. So today, it is sometimes easier to make a point of truth in the context of humor. That is why my favorite cartoonist is Israeli Yaakov Kirschen. He has drawn the Dry Bones cartoons for 40 years (in January 2013. Thank you Mr. Kirschen. This cartoon is confirmed by the following quote from Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority.

90 Gaza Rockets in 24 Hours

27 10 2012

Americans are understandably consumed with our Presidential election 10 days away. We are also shocked by the Administration’s six weeks Libya silence. They are obviously playing out the string hoping most voters will not hear about it until after November 6.

Yet Israel, our truest Middle East friend, was targeted with 90 rockets in 24 hours on Wednesday. Again, the miracle report is no deaths and two injured. But what civilized nation would suffer 90 rockets and not retaliate? We must pray for wisdom for Israel’s Defense Forces. There is a ridiculously fine line imposed on them by the world governments. No matter how measured their response, they are regularly condemned for “disproportionate force”.

There have been 500 rocket attacks in 2012! That is more than two a day. What would you do if you were Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu? Most of the world still considers Gaza as occupied territory. But Israel completely withdrew all Jews and all troops in August of 2005. The only Jew in Gaza since then was Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier kidnapped and held hostage for five years until last year. Israel valued his life to the degree that they traded 1,000 terrorist prisoners for him. Again, what would you do?

The best news is that the God of Israel will defend His chosen ones.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from Yehovah, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:1-4

And King David famously spoke of the salvation and victory that would be fully accomplished in the rule of the Messiah Yeshua, whom David called “my Lord” in Psalm 110. See Acts 2:22-34 for Peter’s application of this verse to Jesus.

Yehovah said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” Yehovah shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! Psalm 110:1-2

Yes, the promise is true and the victory is sure. Pray for the SHALOM of Jerusalem!

Blessing Israel

19 10 2012

You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come. Psalm 102:13

Please notice the photo. Israel is the part that is green. When you look closer, you can even see the outline of the “West bank” in brown. Most of the surrounding nations are also brown. The only part of Israel that is not green is the Negev desert area (which happens to be the only desert on the planet that is shrinking!).

What is my point?

About 150 years ago, Mark Twain traveled the area and found it almost entirely barren and God-forsaken. He detailed his journey in The Innocents Abroad. Seeing the desolation in 1867, he wrote: Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes. Over it broods the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies. There is hardly a tree or shrub anywhere. Even the olive and cactus, those fast friends of a worthless soil, have almost deserted the soil.

The Ottoman Turks had taxed every tree growing in the Holy Land as a means of causing the desolation; because the residents would cut down the trees to avoid the tax.

Today, Israel is a miracle nation resurrected as no other in history. It is indeed the “set time” to favor Zion. It is the supernatural blessing of Yehovah, God of Israel. Consider just a few of the hundreds of prophesies and promises fulfilled in our day.

The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of Yehovah, the excellency of our God. Isaiah 35:1-2

Jeremiah 31 Thus says Yehovah: “The people who survived the sword Found grace in the wilderness–Israel, when I went to give him rest.” (verse 2). Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth, Among them the blind and the lame, The woman with child And the one who labors with child, together; A great throng shall return there. (verse 8). Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, Streaming to the goodness of Yehovah–For wheat and new wine and oil, For the young of the flock and the herd; Their souls shall be like a well-watered garden, And they shall sorrow no more at all. (verse 12.) “And it shall come to pass, that as I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to throw down, to destroy, and to afflict, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says Yehovah. (verse 28.) “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Yehovah: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. (verse 33).

“I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bear young; I will make you inhabited as in former times, and do better for you than at your beginnings. Then you shall know that I am Yehovah. Ezekiel 36:11

“So they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted, desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’ “Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, Yehovah, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, Yehovah, have spoken it, and I will do it.” Ezekiel 36:35-36

PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! May they prosper who love you. Psalm 122:6

Red Line!

27 09 2012

This is one of those days when I can’t decide on the headline.” Inducement!” was my alternative. I settled on “Red Line!” because it was the most graphic moment of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech today to the United Nations General Assembly. With President Obama reluctant to draw a red line, the PM made a compelling case for its necessity. Iran must be stopped before the last stages (building a nuke) or it will be too late. He explained in simple terms why it can’t wait. He also set a reasonable timetable, reaching the red line as early as next Spring.

Inducement! Though the visual graphic of a bomb was memorable, the best line in his speech was the quote from Bernard Lewis: Mutually assured destruction is not a deterrent, it’s an inducement because that is what they’re hoping for. This is a major point that must be understood. MAD, or mutually assured destruction, worked with the USSR because they didn’t want to die anymore than we do. It does not work with Iran because they want to die for their bloodthirsty pagan god. It is their only guarantee of salvation. (Aren’t you thankful that Jesus died in our place?) They also believe it is necessary to start a catastrophic world war in order for Islamic Sharia to rule the planet. I have maintained for years that communism might have won if it was not based on godless atheism. This reveals the more serious threat of Islam. It has a world conquest ideology plus the passion of religious fervor.

One point I often make in my speaking tours is about the future of the European Union. The question has been raised for years whether Turkey will be admitted to the EU. With the rise of Islamic domination of Europe, the correct question is this. Will the EU be permitted to join the worldwide Islamic Caliphate headquartered in Turkey? Since the Arab Spring, events are unfolding so fast that most observers are way behind. The only way to keep ahead of the developments is to read the Bible prophesies. They are literally being fulfilled day by day. (This is clear just in the last few weeks with Egypt according to Isaiah 19.)

Surely the Lord Yehovah does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord Yehovah has spoken! Who can but prophesy? Amos 3:7-8

Timing is Everything

15 09 2012

Watching the US Administration’s feckless attempts to blame an amateurish YouTube video for this week’s Muslim violence against America is embarrassing. Within hours of our Libyan Ambassador’s death there were multiple reports of a well-planned Al Qaeda attack: In a video tape released a few hours before the attack, Zawahri called on the faithful to take revenge on the United States for liquidating one of the organization’s top operatives, Libyan-born Abu Yahya al-Libi in June by a US drone in northwestern Pakistan. it was a professionally executed terrorist operation by a professional Al Qaeda assassination team, whose 20 members acted under the orders of their leader Ayman al Zawahri after special training. They were all Libyans, freed last year from prisons where they were serving sentences for terrorism passed during the late Muammar Qaddafi’s rule. (DEBKAfile Sept 12)

The timing was obviously chosen as the US was remembering the fallen of 9/11. The video indeed had a role, however. Even though it had been on YouTube for months, it was shown on Egyptian TV in order to stir up the mass hysteria protests that would serve as cover for assassination team in Libya. This is an old Communist tactic Lenin made famous, relying on “useful idiots”.

Looking ahead the next few weeks, we should be aware of very significant timing. This Sunday and Monday is Rosh haShana, the Jewish New Year and the beginning of the Feast of Tabernacles high holy season in Israel and for Jews around the world. Major attacks against Israel have often occurred on Jewish holy days. The most famous was the 1973 Yom Kippur War, so named because the attack was launched on that day. We need to really be in prayer this weekend and the next two weeks. Israel may attack Iran before our elections. The Muslim hysteria may accelerate. The US Administration looks weak and unsteady to the Muslim world which only emboldens them to further action.

Finally, it must be noted that the tragic loss of American lives in Libya had a connection to President Obama’s snub of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday. (Genesis 12:3) He cancelled a meeting between the two at the United Nations on Sept 27 that had been announced as early as Aug 25. The reason given was “busy schedule” even though he would appear on Letterman and a fund raiser with Beyonce’. He had also agreed to a meeting with Egyptian President Morsi. On Tuesday, President Obama held a one hour phone call with Netanyahu and still refused to set a US “red line” for Iran. All of this preceded the attack on our Libyan Consulate. There is a direct cause and effect of actions by any government against Israel and consequential events. Make no mistake. (For further overwhelming evidence of this pattern, please read the excellent book by William Koenig: Eye To Eye.)

Timing is everything!

“Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow—For their wickedness is great.”  Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Yehovah is near in the valley of decision. Joel 3:12-14

Secrets Made Known

11 09 2012

The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all. Luke 12:2

TODAY! This is how the Muslim world celebrates America’s great tragedy of 9/11: Protesters destroy an American flag pulled down from the U.S. embassy in Cairo, Egypt, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012. Egyptian protesters, largely ultra conservative Islamists, have climbed the walls of the U.S. embassy in Cairo, went into the courtyard and brought down the flag, replacing it with a black flag with Islamic inscription, in protest of a film deemed offensive of Islam. (Photo Credit: AP)

Enough has been spoken and written about the political conventions, but one more observation is fitting. The shocking departure from democracy at the DNC was a major embarrassment for President Obama. Someone noticed the change in platform content from 2008 to 2012. The endorsement of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was removed, along with all reference to God. Even though it was duly voted before the convention, it was certain to torpedo the Obama campaign, especially among Jewish and millions more Israel supporters. This led to the reversal that required a floor vote at the convention requiring a two-thirds majority. Though the voice vote was repeated three times, it never passed fifty-fifty which was abundantly clear in the audio recordings. Yet, the chairman declared it had passed with the necessary two-thirds! Finally, his pronouncement was greeted by a raucous chorus of boos. I conclude that the hidden changes were made known by the hand of God.

My commentary on May 5, The President’s Hat, was from a prophecy by Bob Jones detailing his impression that hidden things would be revealed all this year about secret dealings of the President. His “hat” would blow off. This has been true in a number of areas such as Operation Fast and Furious, the White House leaks of classified information, and various lies exposed at the highest levels. Still, the most serious is his dealings with Israel such as the flap at the DNC.

TODAY, it was announced that President Obama cancelled his critical September 27th meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu when the PM is in New York for the United Nations session. The reason given was the President’s busy schedule. How could this conceivably happen when Iran is threatening Israel and the world with a nuclear World War III? The cancellation may have been a reaction to these strong but clear words TODAY from Netanyahu: Those who do not place “red lines” in front of Iran have no moral right to put a “red light” in front of Israel when it comes to military action.

This year’s election will determine the destiny of the United States of America. If we choose to stand against Israel we will most certainly fall. Pray for our beloved country. God has an eternal covenant with the land and the people of Israel that has determined the end of nations and empires for 5,000 years.

I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Genesis 12:3

Let all the earth fear Yehovah; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. Yehovah brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of Yehovah stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is Yehovah, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. Psalm 33:8-12

Dear Lord Jesus, we pray for mercy for our land and our leaders to hear and obey your word.

NYC AD Wars

24 08 2012

This summer has seen a flare-up of ad wars in the New York City subway system stations. First was the above ad placed in 50 locations by a Palestinian group. The four maps depicted are incorrect. The first one labels the area in 1946 as Palestine, as if it were an Arab state. The truth is there has never in history been a state called Palestine. There has never been a unique language, currency, or culture. Palestinians are merely Arabs. Jews have lived there continuously for 3,000 years. The area was renamed Palestinia by the Romans in their effort to stamp out Israel in 135 AD. Controlled by various Gentile empires until 1948, Israel was legally declared a nation by the United Nations and declared its independence at that time. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any nation but Israel since King David made it his capital over 3,000 years ago.

The last map above exaggerates the area recognized as Israel. As a result of these ads, a pro-Israel group, Stand With Israel, countered with six ads of their own in 75 subway locations. Two of these are below, telling the truth about Israel.

The period that David reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years he reigned in Hebron, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years. 1 Kings 2:11

Olympic Israel Snub

9 08 2012

Palestinian Flag Shows Bias

This was a hard blog to title. In case you missed it, these Olympics are the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Munich Massacre of 11 Israelis. It would seem to have been a no-brainer to offer a moment of silence as requested by Israel during the opening ceremony. Yet, it was ultimately blocked by the Head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Much has been written pro and con, but I wish to share a little known explanation. The biased decision by the IOC Head was not even subtle as you can see from this picture.

However, the story does not end there. American gymnast Alexandra Raisman had an appropriate response. By saying her gold medal-winning performance in the floor exercise was in part a memorial to the Israelis who perished long before she was born, Raisman gave us a genuine moment of Jewish pride that places the IOC’s shameful stand in perspective. Jonathan S. Tobin

In the end, it is not to be expected that the world will support Israel. The Bible is clear that the nations will be against Israel. Only God and God’s people will stand with Israel. I pray that we as a nation will be counted with those who bless Israel.

I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. Joel 3:2

Yehovah brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of Yehovah stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is Yehovah, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance. Psalm 33:10-12

Peace That Doesn’t Make Sense

26 07 2012

For decades we have made deposits in our “faith account” We believe in storing up faith more than anything else for future times of need. There will be times for all of us when we need to “withdraw from our faith account.” April 11, 2001 Doreen and I had finished preparations to travel in a motor home, and preach in support of God’s purposes for Israel. It was the final day of our rental house and we would drive away the next morning. As I positioned the motor home for the last minute loading, it caught fire which jumped to the wooden porch of the home and within minutes the whole house was burning. It was a total loss. As the firemen fought the 40 foot flames, Doreen and I watched (with a hundred of our closest friends and neighbors). Doreen leaned over to me and said: “I’m sure glad I wore my comfortable shoes.” And I was just thinking to myself: “Wow Lord! I didn’t see that coming. What are You going to do now?” Honestly, we had some sort of real supernatural faith withdrawal from the transcendent grace and peace of the Holy Spirit of God.

Some of our friends said we were in shock and it would hit us the next day. When it didn’t, they said it would be the next week or month. Well, it has now been over 11 years and it still hasn’t hit us. Yes I boast, but not in our faith, but in God’s faithfulness. We actually experienced what I call “peace that doesn’t make sense.” We should have been in shock. We should have panicked or collapsed or had any other normal reaction. But we did not. We had peace. Thank you Jesus! The Apostle Paul said it another way:

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Last year, my good friend Doug Walton, shared a gem from the Hebrew text of this verse:

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

One would be right to assume that “peace” here is the Hebrew word “shalom”. What I did not know before Doug shared, was that the word “perfect” is also “shalom” in the Hebrew text. The concept of perfect peace is really shalom-shalom, or shalom squared! So the perfect peace (that doesn’t make sense in the human circumstance) is really a double shalom from our loving Heavenly Father, right at the time we need it most. Hallelujah!

When we face tragedy, reversal, uncertainty or anything unexpected, we stand at that choice again of two roads as mentioned in the introduction of this book. Do we choose LIFE in Jesus or self-will? Do we stick with Him or deny Him in blasphemous rebellion? Joshua said it best for all generations:

And if it seems evil unto you to serve Yehovah, choose for yourselves this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yehovah. Joshua 24:15

So then, we will walk by faith, live by faith and stand in faith. It takes courage to stand in faith in the face of insurmountable odds. Yet, as someone said: “You and God are not a majority, you have a monopoly.” Paul reminded the Romans that if God was for them, no one could stand against them. I do not diversify my Heavenly hope; my total trust is invested in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Israel. All my eggs are in one basket. (This post is an excerpt from my newest book, Generation LIFE, available soon.)

If Guns Were Outlawed Only Outlaws Would have Guns

21 07 2012

Demands for gun control are coming out of the woodwork in the aftermath of the Colorado movie massacre. This utterly predictable response has brought into focus several otherwise unrelated events of this past week.

1. Doreen and I had the distinct honor of attending John Hagee’s Christians United For Israel annual Washington, DC Summit. It was thrilling to sit with 5,000 Christian and Jewish Zionists. CUFI now has over 1,250,000 members making it the largest Christian Zionist organization in the world. The keynote speaker was US Representative Michelle Bachman.

2. Next day, Michelle Bachman was publicly and dishonestly attacked  by Senator John McCain. She was accused of personally attacking Huma Abedin (Hillary Clinton Deputy Chief of Staff). McCain was dead wrong. Bachman (member of the Intelligence Committee)  only raised the question of vetting, since Abedin’s father, mother and brother all have proven connections to the Muslim Brotherhood.

3. This week a suicide bomber killed five civilian Israeli tourists in Bulgaria.

4. Yesterday’s movie massacre has led to wall to wall news coverage and demands for gun control.

So, how do I see a common thread between these events? The Bulgaria bombing illustrates a couple of things. Murderers don’t play fair and they usually attack civilians, so-called “soft” targets. This was likewise true in Colorado. The question is: Who is getting on our “bus”? Or, who is sitting in our theater? Or, who is advising our government?

Here is a typical demand for gun control from a New York Times op-ed on the very day of the Colorado tragedy: That James Holmes is insane, few may doubt. Our gun laws are also insane, but many refuse to make the connection. The United States is one of few developed nations that accepts the notion of firearms in public hands. In theory, the citizenry needs to defend itself. Not a single person at the Aurora, Colo., theater shot back, but the theory will still be defended. [emphasis added]

The only trouble with this quote (as pointed out on Breitbart.com) is that: The Cinemark theater chain has a “gun-free zone” policy.

The truth is that the rate of similar shootings has remained constant for decades in the U.S. And in Israel you don’t see a lot of street crime because many Israeli’s carry guns openly. It is an amazing deterrent to gun violence. Had there been  a legal gun in that Colorado theater, the cowardly gunman would have been brought down before he could complete his plan, saving many wounded and presumably even several lives. Therefore, it becomes a classic proof of the much mocked and maligned fact: If guns were outlawed, only outlaws would have guns.
