Syria: Not World War III

Flickr_-_Israel_Defense_Forces_-_188th_Brigade_Training_Day_March_2008-cropped-195x110When the media goes after a story like sharks with blood in the water, we need to step back for some Biblical prophetic context. This Syria saber-rattling is not the end of the world or Armageddon. Prophetically, we have a way to go yet.

For several years I have explained Psalm 83. It describes a regional war against Israel that ends with the coalition members attacking each another and Israel winning decisively. The later Ezekiel 38 War of Gog and Magog is the big one. An essential difference between the two is that the list of attackers in Psalm 83 is not even mentioned in Ezekiel. Completely different countries are involved. Also, Israel is dwelling in peace and safety and un-walled villages before the big one. A third consideration is the destruction of Damascus in Isaiah 17 which may be near in the first coming war.

Therefore, this is not the end of the world, but it is setting the stage. We are coming into the holy season of the Feast of Tabernacles in Leviticus 23. The Yom Kippur War of 1973 was 40 years ago to the day of this year’s Yom Kippur, starting at sundown Friday September 13 to sundown September 14. While some would make something superstitious of Friday the 13th, the Biblical interest is that 1973 and 2013 both occur on the Sabbath. Given the context of the Syria civil war, we should be in much prayer about this year’s Yom Kippur.

“For the pillars of the earth are Yehovah’s, and He has set the world upon them. He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked shall be silent in darkness. For by strength no man shall prevail. The adversaries of Yehovah shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them. Yehovah will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to His king, and exalt the horn of His anointed.” 1 Samuel 2:8b-10

(As is my custom, I have taken the liberty to change the word “LORD” to Yehovah. Every single time you see LORD or GOD in all capital letters in the Old Testament, the actual Hebrew word is Yehovah. This name occurs 6,828 times in the Hebrew text, yet remains untranslated in most Bibles. His name, obscured for 2,500 years, is now being revealed. It is TIME to restore the name of Yehovah!) Interesting post, you make a few intreaguing points. Baring what you’ve written in mind, you may be interested in something I wrote a while ago: http://rileyfrost.wordpress.com/2013/08/26/what-are-the-concequences-of-military-intervention-in-syria/

Yes, I found your post very interesting. I agree with your “catch 22” conclusion in the geopolitical context.
