Antidote for Media Lies

18 08 2020

Mustard SeedBRAINWASHED is an interesting term. It is an oxymoron. It means the opposite of how it sounds. In reality, if you are brainwashed, you are brain-dirtied, not washed. You have been fed so many lies that you believe the lies and don’t recognize truth anymore. Propaganda is the tool of the brainwashers/dirtiers. Politicians use it all the time. Media formerly existed to hold leaders to account for lies and propaganda. But what happens if the media is biased to the point of blurring the truth in favor of a preferred agenda or narrative? What is the antidote? Connect to the source of absolute truth through faith in God and the Messiah Jesus/Yeshua.

Jesus gave us His antidote as He taught about the vine that bears much fruit. His word makes us clean. Examine every report by comparing it to the words of Jesus.

“You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.” John 15:3

Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church expands on the same theme.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,” Ephesians 5:25-26

Hearing the voice of God through Jesus results in a true brain “washing.” Truth is the antidote to lies. Jesus said His sheep would hear His voice and not follow any other voice.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  John 14:6

Let us learn to listen and take the antidote whenever we are confused by conflicting reports. Absolute truth does exist. It is a Person! Let Him wash you with His eternal words of life.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the fulfillment of God’s purpose.

Nikki Haley – “We’ll be taking names”

10 10 2018

Dry Bones Nikki HaleyHere are excerpts from a great article by Jack Engelhard, writing for Israel National News.

He quite clearly expresses the strength of Nikki Haley as US Ambassador to the UN. Her unapologetic stand for Israel was clear when the UN tried to condemn the US for moving our Embassy to Jerusalem. That is why she is my hero. In addition, she is an outspoken Christian personally and also boldly defending persecuted Christians around the world.

The best of Nikki Haley – “We’ll be taking names” Most days at the UN, she was the only man in the room. Pray that Trump will find another. Those days of bowing to the nations are over, finished, and if there was one moment that defined her entire approach to the entire world, it came at her defense of Israel.

Precisely, it came after President Trump named Jerusalem the capital of Israel, a decision that angered the nations. They were so used to having Israel their wayIsrael was their sport.

So they insisted on a do-over, which meant, as we recorded it here, a General Assembly resolution to protest Trump’s declaration. That included moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem, which infuriated them even further—and which triggered Nikki Haley to rise to the occasion – and did she ever!

As follows: “At the UN we’re always asked to do more and give more. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American people, about where to locate OUR embassy, we don’t expect those we’ve helped to target us. On Thursday there’ll be a vote criticizing our choice. The U.S. will be taking names.”

Message sent. Message delivered. Message received…

…Sure enough foreign aid was cut to nations and agencies, like UNRWA and the PA, that were either wasteful or hateful, and always ungrateful.

Now they tiptoe around her.

Depending on who replaces her, the UN will never be the same again. She will have left her mark…and a triumphant mark it is. Tough shoes to fill…

…One of a kind. Pray that there is another. INN Jack Engelhard

Yes indeed, we pray for another godly person to be our UN Ambassador.

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and pray for rain.

What Trump did NOT Do in Israel

26 05 2017

trump-westernwall21

Here is an excellent summary of what President Trump did not do in Israel – from Joel Rosenberg

  • Did not unveil an American-imposed peace plan and pressure Israel to accept it
  • Did not even use the words “two state solution” during his entire visit
  • Did not criticize Israeli settlements, or mention them publicly at all
  • Did not criticize Israeli policies of any kind
  • Did not surprise the Israelis with major announcements of any kind, much less any policies that weren’t carefully discussed in advance
  • Did not go off message, either in his public remarks or on Twitter

Another big moment came when the President met in Bethlehem with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas: “Peace can never take root in an environment where violence is tolerated, funded and even rewarded,” Mr. Trump said during his public remarks, at Mr. Abbas’ side. “We must be resolute in condemning such acts in a single unified voice.”

As the Times of Israel noted, this was a “reference to the salaries paid by the [Palestinian Authority] to jailed Palestinian terrorists and to the families of Palestinian prisoners killed while committing terror attacks.” Joel Rosenberg

We must pray for President Trump. Here is a great Psalm of David, praying for deliverance from his enemies. It is amazingly appropriate for our President.

Deliver me, O Yehovah, from evil men;
Preserve me from violent men,
Who plan evil things in their hearts;
They continually gather together for war.
They sharpen their tongues like a serpent;
The poison of asps is under their lips.Selah
Keep me, O Yehovah, from the hands of the wicked;
Preserve me from violent men,
Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.
The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords;
They have spread a net by the wayside;
They have set traps for me. Selah
I said to the LORD: “You are my God;
Hear the voice of my supplications, O Yehovah.
O Yehovah the Lord, the strength of my salvation,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.
Do not grant, O Yehovah, the desires of the wicked;
Do not further his wicked scheme,
Lest they be exalted. Selah
“As for the head of those who surround me,
Let the evil of their lips cover them;
10 Let burning coals fall upon them;
Let them be cast into the fire,
Into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
11 Let not a slanderer be established in the earth;
Let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.”
12 I know that Yehovah will maintain
The cause of the afflicted,
And justice for the poor.
13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name;
The upright shall dwell in Your presence. Psalm 140

Back from Idaho, On to Israel

10 05 2017

20170505_141906

Thank you Sandpoint Christian Center, Sandpoint River of Life Church and Cocolalla Cowboy Church for such wonderful meetings last week. My granddaughter Aly and I were so blessed to minister and enjoy the great Pacific Northwest. I always leave part of my heart there on many levels. Ken and Mavis Lawrence are gracious hosts and even more so with Aly along as my assistant.

Now Doreen and I prepare for our extraordinary 50th Anniversary trip to Jerusalem, a beyond generous gift from our daughters’ families and friends. We are so excited to be there to join in the 50 year anniversary celebrations of the reunification of Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel. It was a prophetically historic event at the end of the 1967 Six Day War.

Yeshua had prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem which occurred in 70 AD.

 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” Luke 21:20-24

This section is often put into the end times, but notice that after the destruction they will “be led away captive into all nations”. This refers to the nearly 1900 years between the  70 AD fall of Jerusalem, to its reunification of 1967.

But He also prophesied its restoration in verse 24:

And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”

There was to be an end to the Gentile rule of Jerusalem. In addition, He connected the restoration of Jerusalem to the Messiah’s coming.

Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Luke 21:29-33

To which generation does He refer in verse 32, that will not pass away till He comes? I submit that it is our generation, the one which sees Jerusalem come back under the sovereignty of Israel instead of Gentile nations.

Hallelujah! Come soon Yeshua ha Mashiach, Jesus the Messiah!

Happy Purim

11 03 2017

Dry Bones Purim 2017

Today and tomorrow Jews around the world celebrate Purim, the festival honoring Esther’s great courage saving the Jews in ancient Persia/Iran. Today Iran again threaten Israel, yet the Jews take time to remember the victory story of Esther (Hebrew name: Hadassah), Mordecai and the evil Haman. Read about it in the Bible’s short Book of Esther.

And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” Esther 4:13-16

Pray for Israel Rain

9 03 2017

Dry Bones rain

Sea of Galilee at lowest level in century after driest February – Northern farmers warn they will have to stop watering huge swaths of cultivated land unless government steps in. Times of Israel

Israel desperately needs rain. The Sea of Galilee is at a 100 year low. Yet, Yehovah God has promised “rain in the time of latter rain.” We must pray into God’s promises. (It is the surest way to get our prayers answered.) Rain and snow and dew are part of the restoration of Israel in the last days. We must do our part. Pray for rain. There is one more month of the rainy season. Pray!

Ask Yehovah for rain in the time of the latter rain. Yehovah will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone.Zechariah 10:1

Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yehovah your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you—The former rain,
and the latter rain in the first month.Joel 2:26

Yehovah will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of Yehovah your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of Yehovah, and they shall be afraid of you. And Yehovah will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which Yehovah swore to your fathers to give you. Yehovah will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand.Deuteronomy 28:9-12

ISIS Christian Massacre near Israel Border

27 02 2017

dry-bones-listening-sinaiWhy have you not heard about this genocide in US media? This happened this year in the Egyptian Sinai just a few miles from Gaza and Israel.

Coptic Christians flee N. Sinai homes after Islamist massacre Hundreds of Christian families arrived Friday in the Suez Canal town of Ismailia in flight from their northern Sinai home town of El Arish where ISIS’ Sinai affiliate has massacred some 30 Coptic Christians since early January. Thursday, terrorists shot Kamel Youssef to death in front of his wife and children in El-Arish. The day before, they killed a Christian man and burned his son alive, killing three other Christians in drive-by shootings. DEBKAfile: ISIS launched its latest genocidal rampage following Egyptian army attacks on its strongholds in central SinaiDEBKAfile February 25, 2017

Egypt’s Christians flee Sinai amid Islamic State killing spree Christian families and students fled Egypt’s North Sinai province in droves on Friday after Islamic State killed the seventh member of their community in just three weeks. Reuters

And it will be for a sign and for a witness to Yehovah of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to Yehovah because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them. Then Yehovah will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know Yehovah in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to Yehovah and perform it. And Yehovah will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to Yehovah, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.Isaiah 19:20-22

We must pray for the Christians now being targeted all over the world. More Christians have died as martyrs in the 20th century until 2017, than the last two thousand years combined. We are also seeing a dangerous escalation of anti-Semitic attacks in recent years. Pray for Christians and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Melania and the Lord’s Prayer

20 02 2017

Here is a post from my favorite writer (who happens to be my wife). Doreen was really inspired by Melania last Saturday at the Melbourne, Florida Trump rally. She also responded to horrible criticisms of Melania. I hope you enjoy.

My heart hurts today for a very lovely lady, the First Lady of the United States.I was not on the “Trump Train” in the beginning of the primaries, but before long, I recognized that God’s hand was on a Trump presidency. He was moved forward through a very difficult process to final victory. It had to have been an act of God. But this post is not about President Trump. It is concerning his wife who has been faithfully supporting him all along the way.

I know nothing, really, about Melania’s past. I do know that she is a legal immigrant who speaks five languages, that she is devoted to her husband and her son, and she loves the United States of America. I also know that she is a woman, and she is human, and I can imagine how devastated she must be under the weight of the horrible things that have been said about her this past week. She has been called ugly names, mocked for her (very charming) accent, and criticized for saying the Lord’s Prayer at the Rally in Melbourne, FL yesterday. She was mocked for reading the prayer instead of saying it from memory. How miserably critical and malicious does one have to be to do this to her? One poisonous tweet actually said she couldn’t possibly be a Christian if she couldn’t say the prayer from memory. Seriously? I would address these detractors and ask: “How many languages do you speak?” “Could you stand in front of thousands of people and speak without notes?” “Have you been given the authority to say who is a Christian and who is not?”

My respect for Melania Trump soared after seeing her step forward after being thus maligned, and with grace and humility, lead with, “Let us pray…” I was so proud of her! She continued:

“Our Father in heaven,  Hallowed be Your name.  Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those who trespass against us. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever (and ever). Amen.”

She said this with sincerity and feeling. The crowd joined in with her, and it was truly a holy moment.

I would like to speak a warning to those who feel it is their duty to tear down another. The scripture that includes this prayer (Matthew 6) doesn’t stop with “Amen”. Jesus felt it necessary to explain one part of this prayer. Do you know what the next verse says?

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

I never pray this prayer anymore without thinking about this passage. If I DO NOT FORGIVE, I will not be forgiven. The way I forgive is the way I AM ASKING GOD TO FORGIVE ME! Is the way I forgive the gold standard I want God to use towards me? Lord, have mercy on us all!

Melania Trump is a beautiful, gracious, classy lady. I’m sure she is not without sin, as none of us are. I admire our First Lady greatly and I pray for her. I pray that the weight of her new position and the ugliness of the attacks against her will not crush her. May these experiences, good and bad, serve to drive her further into the loving and accepting arms of Jesus. I believe she will serve us well in the White House.

Netanyahu at White House Updated

14 02 2017

netanyahu-in-dc-with-trump

Major news this week…President Trump hosts Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House. He arrived a few hours ago and is meeting with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson among other dignitaries today and tonight. Tomorrow he will meet with President Trump. Here are some prayer points. They are followed by my comments on Thursday after the press conference.

  1. Praise God for a new attitude from our government toward Israel. This was clear in the warm tone of the joint press conference.
  2. Give thanks for godly counsel surrounding both men. We continue to pray for this.
  3. Appreciation that Israel’s Chief Rabbi blessed Netanyahu before he left. This is critical for Israeli unity and for putting God first.
  4. Pray for a clear announcement to move our Embassy to Jerusalem, despite rumorsThis was mentioned as an issue “under consideration with caution.”
  5. Pray for a strong statement in favor of settlement/annexation. This was an issue to be discussed further. But the biggest headline of the meeting was President Trump’s public openness to a “one-state” option in addition to the “two-state” that has prevailed for 70 years. That was a major new path to peace. The knee-jerk  rejection of annexation (one-state), is always based on the widely accepted (but incorrect) idea that Arabs would soon outnumber Israelis. The errant bias believes: a. Incorrect exaggerated Palestinian census numbers, b. Wrong assumptions about comparative birth rates, and c. failure to account for continued aliyah (immigration) of millions of Jews still to come home.
  6. Pray for agreement between the two men to reject the Iran boondoggle. This was clearly stated by both leaders.
  7. Pray for a warm personal connection between the two. This was also clearly evident.
“Let’s see if your idols can save you when you cry to them for help. Why, a puff of wind can knock them down! If you just breathe on them, they fall over! But whoever trusts in me will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain.” God says, “Rebuild the road! Clear away the rocks and stones so my people can return from captivity.” Isaiah 57:13-14 NLT

And as always, pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

The Lone Wolf Myth

24 11 2014

synogogue masssacreCalling an Islamic terrorist a lone wolf is perhaps the most miss-leading media narrative. Today’s journalists seem too lazy to think for themselves and so they just repeat all the other writers ad nauseam with little originality or research. Today I will contradict the lone wolf narrative. It was applied to last week’s massacre of four Rabbis in Jerusalem during morning prayers in their synagogue. Three were dual American-Israeli citizens.

On October 22, I spoke of another false narrative, the idea that terrorism is senseless violence. Here is a quote from that essay, which included my comment about the lone wolf idea.

Aren’t you getting sick of the weak clichés describing terrorism? Again today after the terrorist murder in Canada’s capital city, the vapid  news commentator condemned the “senseless violence” of the Muslim terrorist murderer. I don’t object to the phrase simply because it is a cliché, but because it is WRONG!

It makes perfect sense in the mind of a Muslim literalist. It is what Mohammed did. It is what the Koran, Sunnah and Hadith teach….These “lone wolf” actors are NOT “becoming radicalized,” they are becoming converted. They have adopted a complete belief system and follow it as their deadly sincere faith! It is a death cult, and the diametric opposite of Jesus and the Biblical God of love and life, Yehovah. (Elisha Vision Commentary 10-22-14)

The lone wolf myth is dangerous because it minimizes the motivation of the terrorist and divorces him from the underlying ideology that justifies his barbaric actions. I urge you to read a column from Israel National News that really nails this lone wolf myth. Here are a few quotes, but please click on the link and read the entire piece. It is well worth your time.

The perpetrators of Arab/Muslim and Palestinian terrorism are not “lone wolves”, as they have been described, but by-products of a centuries-old intolerant ideology, supported today by educational and religious indoctrination….

At 7:01 am on Tuesday, November 18th, two Palestinian terrorists, Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal, entered the Kehilat Yaakov synagogue in the Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem where about a dozen people were praying. The two were carrying a gun, a meat cleaver, and an axe. Seven minutes later (to the cries of “Allahu Akbar!”) four of the worshippers were dead, a Druze police officer who tried to rescue them suffered mortal injuries and several others were severely wounded….

In response to the gruesome axe murders and shootings, Palestinians in Gaza and the ‘West Bank‘ erupted in spontaneous celebrations by handing out cookies and candy, dancing in the streets, honking horns, flaunting axes, setting off firecrackers, cheering, holding up posters “honoring” the two “martyrs”, and displaying V-for-victory signs just as they did in the celebrations that followed the September 11th terror attacks and the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15th, 2013. The Palestinian Authority referred to the slaughter as a “heroic operation at a religious Zionist institute”….

The Kehilat Yaakov terrorists and others like them were not driven by socio-economic or human rights issues, but by a fanatical worldview which loathes civil liberties and considers Western freedoms to be an abomination. They were motivated and educated by the belief that their murderous actions against Jews would bestow upon them the honorable title of “shahid” (martyr) and that they were fulfilling a holy Islamic mission by murdering Jews and advancing the commandment of jihad….

The Palestinian Authority’s 7th grade textbook “Our Beautiful Language” states: “We shall sow Palestine with shahids (martyrs), skeletons and skulls; we shall paint the face of Palestine with blood. … We are returning home to the plains and mountains (of pre-1967 Israel) led by jihad flags, by bloody struggles, and by the willingness to sacrifice ourselves as martyrs.” (Israel National News – Debunking the “Lone Wolf” Myth)

“So do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant; do not be dismayed, Israel,” says Yehovah. “For I will bring you home again from distant lands, and your children will return from their exile. Israel will return to a life of peace and quiet, and no one will terrorize them. Jeremiah 30:10
