What is God doing in Iran? The war news is full of bombs and explosions that make for must-watch TV. But this is not your typical war. As I have explained the last few weeks, this is a major historical turning point when viewed through Jeremiah 49. Today I want to zoom in on God’s purpose in verse 38. So far, the extremely low number of casualties is nothing short of miraculous. Americans are understandably concerned, but I believe this is a short war that will see amazing success.
“I will set My throne in Elam, and will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says Yehovah.” Jeremiah 49:38
For several years now we have seen reports of three million or more Iranians turning from Islam to Jesus. Iran has the fastest growing church in the world, in spite of meeting underground. This verse predicted the destruction of the king (ayatollah) and his princes (IRGC). We have already seen the “king” destroyed and the IRGC is being destroyed day by day. (By the way, IRGC is “Islamic” Revolutionary Guard Corp, not “Iranian.”)
The great promise of Yehovah God through Jeremiah is to establish His throne in Iran (Elam). Of course, He is not moving His physical throne from Jerusalem, but He is being enthroned in the hearts of Iranians as each person chooses the God of Israel. This will also necessarily lead to a great relationship between Iran and Israel. Also, most Arab nations will join the Abraham Accords, including Saudi Arabia. My opinion is that the Iranian Crown Prince will lead a transitional government and elections for leaders chosen legally by vote of the Iranian people.
Once again God manifests His faithfulness to keep every promise in His Word. God is faithful and never breaks His covenant, from salvation to His presence, every promise made is fulfilled in His perfect timing.
“Not a word failed of any good thing which Yehovah had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” Joshua 21:45
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 2:9
Don’t fear the outcome of this Iran war. God is establishing His throne! Pray for the Iranians that they will see their Messiah and turn from pagan Islam to the living God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and pray for President Trump and PM Netanyahu for wisdom and courage to do the right thing.

Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough
16 04 2026Profound lessons can come from simple songs. A traditional song at Passover (Dayenu – lyrics) is repeated every year by Jews (and by some Christian Zionists) all over the world. It has been especially sweet this week as my wife and I have been realizing how overwhelmingly blessed we have been. At each milestone we could say it would have been enough, but God keeps blessing. It is undeserved, but we are so thankful. As we enter the last third (from 80-120) of our lives, we face the inevitable issues of later life. Growing old is not for sissies, they say. Yet, our eyes are on Jesus, our Messiah.
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
We are reminded of being thankful for the little things, and also the big blessings. It matters what you believe. Living with faith in God makes a difference! We live in a dysfunctional world of fear foreboding. Confusion, deception, and detachment haunt most people today. But when we count our blessings compared to what we actually deserve, our cup “runneth over.” There is a hidden revelation in a familiar verse in the prophet Daniel.
“Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Daniel 11:32
Interestingly, the last two words “great exploits” are not in the Hebrew text. The Hebrew for “carry out” is simply translated as “do” or “act.” In other words, it is not so much about doing great things, but simply being functional in a dysfunctional world. Some in our day are cowering in fear and dread. Put your hope in God! The sky is not falling. Do not panic. Trust in God. He never fails. We who know God will be strong and functional. The contrast, with those who have no faith, will draw them to the light of God. Historically, the greatest revivals come at times of great stress. Let your light shine. Candles are for dark places.
Are you a moth or a cockroach? When you turn on a light, moths are drawn to the light, but cockroaches scurry away to find a dark place to hide. Come to the light! Jesus is the light of the world. Don’t be dysfunctional. Live in the grace of God.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of Yehovah forever.” Psalm 23:5-6
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Why do I use God’s literal covenant Name: Yehovah? Here is a link to the explanation in my book: The Hebrew God Who Has No Name. And here is a link to a great visual from my friend Keith Johnson.
