Hamas Failed

8 10 2026

The Oct 7 massacre of 1,200 Israeli civilians can be viewed as Hamas failure. Their intent was to join with terrorists from all directions ending with killing all Israelis and conquering Jerusalem. They failed. Hezbollah failed. Iran failed. And the terrorist hijacker last week also failed to achieve his goal of killing thousands of Jews in Tel Aviv.

What should we learn from this? Of course that does not diminish the tragedy, but adds perspective. Consider Joseph who was sold into slavery by his brothers. Later they begged for mercy and forgiveness, through which Joseph taught them a revelation about God.

“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” Genesis 50:20

Joseph did not say God caused evil, but that God used it for His good purpose to save the entire nation of Israel. The evil intent of the brothers is clear, but simultaneously, God’s intent was embedded in the same event. How marvelous! Think of it. No matter how evil a situation may be, God produces a completely opposite result for His people. Are you going through a terrible time? Ask God to reveal His purpose. He is able to reverse the evil for good. The ultimate example is Jesus death. Satan thought he won. but it became salvation for all believers and the total defeat of death itself!

“I will praise You, for You have answered me, and have become my salvation. The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This was Yehovah’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day Yehovah has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:21-24

Notice that the crucifixion is called the day of Yehovah in which we should rejoice! That seems contradictory. We should mourn. But He says it is Victory Day! Satan rejected the stone (Yeshua), but God responded by making that stone the cornerstone of His purpose! This is the meaning of this famous verse in Romans.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

This concept is throughout the Bible. We are not naive or ignorant of Satan’s evil intent, but we are aware of God’s intent that overcomes the devil. The thief comes with purpose, but the Messiah comes with the anecdote. God reverses all the devil’s plans if we simply trust in God. Selah!

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and pray for our leaders to hear from God, have courage, and do the right thing at the right time.
