Elisha Vision – Commentary

For 25 years I have been emphasizing a prophetic key revealed about the Tribe of Issachar. They had a unique calling among the twelve tribes of Israel. Today, just as then, God has called some of us to be aware of the times. Is it possible to make sense of the fast moving developments on the world stage? It is, with God’s viewpoint. Check out this verse:

“…of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command;” 1 Chronicles 12:32

Can we be sons and daughters of Issachar? I believe we can and we should. Not all believers would have this calling, but we need some who are understanding our times. God has specific revelation in each generation. In addition to my blog and YouTube channel I have led “Issachar Forum: A Prophetic Think Tank” for a quarter of a century in various places. Presently, we meet on Friday nights at Capital Church in Garner and Sunday nights at Milton’s Restaurant in Wake Forest, NC both at 6pm.

Issachar understood the times and knew what God wanted them to do. I get excited when I see ancient Scripture texts fulfilled in current events. They reveal timing that confirms the closeness of the Messiah. But equally important, these fulfilled prophecies confirm the character of Yehovah God, who keeps His promises. He is the living God who cannot lie!

Examples include the restoration of Israel as a nation in 1948, regaining Jerusalem as their capital in 1967, and the regathering of scattered exiles to their own land. These are all supernatural and unprecedented events orchestrated by God Himself. One of my favorites is Psalm 102 which describes the Holocaust of World War II in graphic detail. Then, in verse 13, it connects the Holocaust with prophetic fulfillment that ties in with the historic timing of this generation.

“You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come.” Psalm 102:13

Wow! There was a set time for the restoration of Israel which occurred within three years! Evidently, the Holocaust was the trigger, so to speak, that confirmed the timing. Israel suddenly transitioned from judgement to favor because it was now time! No one could have understood that prophecy until it happened. Now it is quite clear.

There are prophecies being fulfilled right before our eyes, if we understand the times. Amos saw Gaza events. Jesus saw the restoration of Jerusalem of 1967. Jeremiah saw the current war and victory in Iran. He even saw the Iranians turning to Jesus on the throne of their hearts. I have spoken and written much about Jeremiah 49:34-29 this year.

“Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,'” Isaiah 46:9-10
