Today let’s take a closer look at Jeremiah’s prophecy regarding Iran as the world waits. President Trump has decided to withhold military action to allow the economic sanctions to weaken the Islamic Republic. Soon the word will be given to call the Iranian people to come out and take over their country. Some Christians are confused or uninformed of God’s point of view, so let’s dig in.

The key to understanding this prophecy lies in seeing that there are TWO judgements. The first was against the Shah and his monarchy in 1979 in verse 35. The second is against the Ayatollah’s regime in the present day. Also, note that Elam has been used historically referring to Iran/Persia. In fact, The Book of Esther takes place in the area of ancient Elam when Shushan was the capital of Persia.
The most amazing part of the prophecy is that Yehovah said He would establish His throne in there. Since the Scripture is full of verses locating His throne in Jerusalem, we must consider what He means about Iran. I believe He is enthroning Jesus on the hearts of the Iranian people. There are many credible reports of the people rejecting not only the regime, but the religion of the terrorists. In the past decade some 50,000 mosques have been closed or destroyed. The people have been turning to Jesus! Ten years ago the estimates hit a million converts, then three million, and recently some say that eight million Iranians have followed Jesus! The end of the Islamic terrorist republic will clear the way for the Ezekiel 38 extraordinary peace that precedes the Gog and Magog invasion.
“I will set My throne in Elam, and will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says Yehovah. ‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days: I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says Yehovah.” Jeremiah 49:38-39
