Earthquakes and Revolutions

Japan Earthquake Disaster - click to enlarge

And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; Luke 21:25

Killer earthquakes in Japan (over 1,000 dead at this early point) and a month ago in New Zealand (over 200 dead) . The earth is reeling, geologically and politically. Everything is shaking. The confidence of the world is teetering near collapse. Some governments are scrambling to save their economies while others are in full revolution mode. At least ten Muslim nations are in or near complete overthrow.

Libya is facing genocide or civil war or both. The nations are perplexed to know what to do next. Free nations are running out of options as they run out of money. The world’s longest serving dictator has sworn he will go down fighting. Two per cent of the world’s oil is the prize for the winners.

Egypt’s “democratic” protests have now opened the way for much more sinister machinations. The Muslim brotherhood is poised to achieve their 90 year goal of a theocratic state with the help of internal mutiny in the ranks of the army. Christians are being martyred in Egypt in unprecedented numbers. It is as if hell has opened up in a spiritual earthquake. The only Christian in Pakistan’s cabinet was assassinated a couple weeks ago.

No union workers lost their jobs in Wisconsin this week, just the ability to demand and enforce higher pensions and perks. Oh, and did I mention Charlie Sheen, the profane sitcom actor, is suing his employers for $100 Million.

Has the world gone mad? They say there are no atheists in foxholes. The planet is one giant foxhole, there can’t possibly be any atheists left.

Darkness seems to be spreading over the earth like a poisonous cloud. Are you depressed yet? How do people cope who have not read the Book? The only true hope is found in the ageless words of comfort and answers one finds in the Bible.

Here are just a few pertinent and very timely observations from God’s love letter.

  • His heart about the earthquake deaths: “For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!” Ezekiel 18:32 NKJV
  • Can satan defeat God? Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ Isaiah 46:10 ESV
  • Is there any hope? Since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be destroyed, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. Hebrews 12:28
  • How much longer? “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Luke 21:28
  • How will God solve the earth’s problems? Just so, when you see the events I’ve described taking place, you can be sure that the Kingdom of God is near. Luke 21:31

Hey Les,
The scriptures you have provided are very encouraging, especially Hebrews 12:28. As this carnal world as we know it collapses, believers in the Messiah Jesus are taking part in a heavenly kingdom that will not be destroyed. Awe… awe… God is worthy to be praised in His Awesomeness! Let us please Him for we know this world is not our home and the Kingdom of God is near. So draw near within your hearts. Crawl in the stern of the boat and rest with Jesus on His cushion (the word says Jesus is laying on a cushion in the midst of the storm). Let us find our comfort in the Holy Spirit. He will take us to the otherside.
Lovn’ Him,
Beth
