Hanukkah and Healing

18 12 2025

Hanukkah means more to me as a Christian Zionist that you may think. In light of the terrible terrorist murders in Australia we are reminded that darkness can never cancel the light of God. If you have a totally sealed room with no windows and a door to another room that has windows and sunlight, what happens when you open the door? Does darkness flow into the light room and make it dark? Of course not! The light floods the darkness and illuminates the sealed room. This evening the fifth light of Hanukkah is lit around the world. This is more than a tradition; it is proof of light triumphing over darkness.

This year Hanukkah and Christmas are close together. Zionist Christians not only believe the land belongs to Israel, but that there is soon coming a wonderful joining together of Jews and Christians. There has been a great wall between us (understandingly) for centuries, but a highly respected first century Rabbi spoke of the breaking down of that wall. After Paul, the apostle, embraced Yeshua as the Messiah, he stopped persecuting followers of Yeshua. He later wrote much of the New Testament. This quote speaking of “one new man” is one of my favorites.

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.” Ephesians 2:14-16

This same Paul also clarified something most Christians miss. The Jews are not joined into the church but the opposite. God chose Israel and planted it among the nations. Because of various judgements God scattered them in all countries. Apostle Paul explained it as some of their branches being broken off and wild Gentile branches grafted into the Israel tree. But then God restores Israel by grafting them back into their own tree. Most Christians think the church replaced Israel, but they are wrong. God promised to restore Israel and He cannot lie. We are living in this time of restoration which is manifestly evident in modern history.

“For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.”  Romans 16:18

All of the early believers were Jews and Paul warned the later Gentile believers not to be arrogant. Christians failed to heed that warning. However, I am humbled and thankful that God has grafted me into Israel. Since I am not Jewish I cannot make Aliyah or I would be living in Israel today. But I stand with Israel and support the Jewish family with all my heart. With the historic rise in antisemitism it is more important than ever that Christians speak up for Zion and God’s chosen people. Their choosing was not only for themselves, but was intended as a blessing to all the nations. That can only happen through this great prophetic time of restoration! No wonder Satan tries to destroy Israel, they are God’s choice to bless the whole world.

As the Hanukkah lights burn brightly and Christians celebrate the birth of Yeshua, God the Father is healing the nations.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! And pray for Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump that they will hear from Yehovah God, and have courage to do the right thing.

God is the #1 Zionist

11 12 2025

A Zionist is simply one who believes that God gave the land of Israel to the Jews. Yehovah God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is the top Zionist in the universe. It is His idea and His will that Israel live on the particular geographical location He chose for them. His enemies have tried to complicate the definition, but in the end it about the land and God’s everlasting promise. You can see His love and even His zeal for Zion in this quote.

“Thus says Yehovah of hosts: ‘I am zealous for Zion with great zeal; with great fervor I am zealous for her.’ Thus says Yehovah: ‘I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, the Mountain of Yehovah of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’ Thus says Yehovah of hosts: ‘Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each one with his staff in his hand because of great age. The streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.’ Thus says Yehovah of hosts: ‘If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, will it also be marvelous in My eyes?’ Says Yehovah of hosts. Thus says Yehovah of hosts: ‘Behold, I will save My people from the land of the east and from the land of the west; I will bring them back, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. They shall be My people and I will be their God, in truth and righteousness.’”  Zechariah 1:1-8

Notice that this short passage tells us five specific things about God Himself.

  1. He expresses great zeal; with great fervor.
  2. He will make Jerusalem His dwelling place, His home!
  3. It will be marvelous in His eyes!
  4. He will bring His people back.
  5. They will be His people and He will be their God, in truth and righteousness.

None of this is delegated to the angels. God does it Himself with great satisfaction and joy. Yehovah reveals His heart in this chapter. He is a hands-on God! This is what He personally wants. He rejoices in performing His promise. No matter how much controversy surrounds Zionism, we must stand in agreement with God. Our own personal integrity issues from that agreement. Align your will with God’s will, even when it is hard. “Integrity is siding with God’s Word against yourself.” Anonymous.

“The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity (or duplicity) of the unfaithful will destroy them.”  Proverbs 11:3

“May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.”  Psalm 25:21 NLT

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and pray for rain.

Where Does God Rest?

14 08 2025

We know He rested on the seventh day of creation, but where does He rest? We also know that He neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4). But He does rest. So, does He have a special place? Some people think of God as a great mystery, even unknowable. But the opposite is true. Yehovah God reveals Himself literally all over the place. He can be seen in the design of His creative masterpieces from the universe down to the tiniest atom or quark. His crowning creation is man. He is also seen in the never-ending beauty and variety every flower, fish, bird, and even people. But the most detailed revelation of His personality, character, and even His purpose is spelled out in plain language in the Bible. This God-breathed record of History (which is His-Story) also reveals intimate details about Himself. But still I ask: Where does God rest?

Let us go into His tabernacle; Let us worship at His footstool. Arise, O Yehovah, to Your resting place,You and the ark of Your strength.”  Psalm 132:7-8

For Yehovah has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place: “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.” Psalm 132:13-14

His resting place is in Zion, forever! The name Zion has many facets. It refers interchangeably to the land of Israel, the mountain, and the city of Jerusalem. As a Christian Zionist, I believe God gave the whole land to Israel in an everlasting covenant. But even more exciting is that He dwells there, it is His resting place! While journeying through the wilderness and for nearly four hundred years at Shiloh after Joshua’s conquest, God dwelt in Moses’ Tabernacle. But that was just His RV for travel. His ultimate eternal resting place is Zion/Jerusalem! Even when the Messiah Yeshua comes He will reign in Jerusalem. No wonder the world goes crazy against the Jews and Jerusalem, both His people and His resting place. Man’s ultimate rebellion against God is against His resting place.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls,
Prosperity within your palaces.” Psalm 122:6-7

I like to say that this verse is God’s #1 prayer request. We pray in agreement with His purpose and rest.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

King David Moves Capital to Jerusalem

3 07 2024

pilgrimage road

Over 3,000 years ago King David captured Jerusalem from the fiercely independent Canaanite tribe of Jebusites.  He moved his capital from Hebron to Jerusalem to the Fortress of Zion which he called the City of David. Today, the City of David is perhaps the most important archeological site in the modern world, sitting just down the hillside from the Temple Mount.

Eric Stackelbeck had a great show on July 2, 2024 on Stakelbeck Tonight on TBN. He had a walking tour of the City of David and the Pilgrimage Road which ascends to the Temple Mount. The best part was his interview with Israeli believer, Reuvon Doron. He explained that scholars agree that Jesus performed at least 35 genuine miracles as recorded in the Gospels. However, only 2 of those were in Jerusalem. Jesus healed the blind man at the pool of Siloam and the lame man at the pool of Bethesda. The Pilgrimage Road connects these two pools.

Here is where it gets interesting. The Jebusite king taunted David by saying even the blind and lame could defend the Canaanite stronghold. King David did take the city and defeated the arrogant Jebusite. Fast forward 1,000 years and Jesus’ only miracles in Jerusalem were the blind and lame!

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.”  2 Samuel 5:6

David’s victory established Jerusalem as Israel’s eternal capital 3,000 years ago. Messiah Jesus came not only to rule from Jerusalem on David’s throne, but to heal the blind and lame! There is one more point. As David united Israel, Jesus unites Jews and Gentiles in One New Man in His eternal Kingdom. Hallelujah!

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself ONE NEW MAN from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.”  Ephesians 2:14-18

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and victory in Gaza.

Walk About Zion

17 08 2023

7

Our small Israel tour of 37 folks departs on Sept 5th. Our anticipation grows more each day now. I have often said that visiting Israel is like a salmon returning to its spawning grounds for me. My life changed forever my first trip in 1984; and every time since then I am deeply moved seeing the living proof of Yehovah God’s faithfulness to fulfill His word, His promises, and His heart toward His people.

“Walk about Zion, and go all around her. Count her towers; mark well her bulwarks; consider her palaces; that you may tell it to the generation following. For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.”  Psalm 48:12-14

It is thrilling to see with our own eyes the living proof of the resurrection of Israel. Zion is a name that also refers to the city of Jerusalem as it does in this Psalm and many others. God’s number one prayer request is that we pray for its peace, but being there is transcendent. You somehow seem to enter in, not only to the gates of Jerusalem, but into the very heart of God. The beginning of Psalm 48 is so powerful.

“Great is Yehovah, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain. Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. God is in her palaces; He is known as her refuge.”  Psalm 48:1-3

Wow! This Psalm is a revelation of the place of Jerusalem in the Kingdom of God. It is where our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah, lived and ministered. He died there and was raised from the dead there. He ascended to heaven from there, and He is returning there, to Jerusalem, to establish His eternal Kingdom! He will rule on the throne of David who first made it his capital over 3,000 years ago. We even walk among the ruins of King David’s palace. Walk about Zion!

(Start praying now for our next tour June 18-28 next year! More details later.)

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the promised rains of water and the Holy Spirit.

Jerusalem’s Ultimate Glory

28 04 2023

20170701_111043

Isaiah 60 has been a favorite of mine for many years. But, it is usually applied to individual believers. Yet, the literal city of Jerusalem, (often called Zion), is the subject of Isaiah’s prophecy. Without dissecting every verse, let me emphasize a few points for your encouragement.

  1. The timing is the regathering of Jews from all countries as mentioned in verse 4.
  2. The wealth of the world will come to Israel because Yehovah has glorified Israel. verse 9.
  3. Jerusalem will be called: “the city of Yehovah, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.” verse 14.
  4. She will be changed from forsaken and hated to: “eternal excellence and a joy of many generations.” verse 15.
  5. Salvation will prevail and even the land promise is fulfilled: “Also your people shall all be righteous; They shall inherit the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified.” verse 21.
  6. Finally: “A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation. I, Yehovah, will hasten it in its time.” verse 22.

The conclusion of this prophecy is that the glory of Yehovah God is revealed because he shares His glory with His chosen ones of Israel and especially Jerusalem. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

What Do Israel and Salmon Have in Common?

29 03 2023

Depositphotos_61604747_l-2015-migrating-salmon-jumping-fish-ladder-at-Issaquah-Hatchery

It is so exciting to plan this year’s Israel tour. I have always felt that a visit to Israel is like a salmon returning to it spawning grounds. The Bible clearly declares that “this one and that one were born in her”. You really feel like you were born there:

“HIS foundation is in the holy mountains. Yehovah loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God!      Selah

“I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me; Behold, O Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia:

‘This one was born there.'” And of Zion it will be said, This one and that one were born in her;

And the Most High Himself shall establish her.” Yehovah will record, When He registers the peoples:

This one was born there.”      Selah

Both the singers and the players on instruments say, “All my springs are in you.”  Psalm 87

You are literally returning “to the rock from which you were hewn:”

“LISTEN to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek Yehovah: Look to the rock from which you were hewn,

And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you;

For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.”

For Yehovah will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden,

And her desert like the garden of Yehovah; Joy and gladness will be found in it,

Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.”  Isaiah 51:1-3

As a non-Jewish believer in Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel, I am so humbled to be included in the patriarchal blessings of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I am grafted into the commonwealth of Israel. Much remains to be fulfilled in the future, but I rejoice now in the covenant promises fulfilled in Jesus. The restoration of the land and the regathering of the people is a miracle before our eyes. I stand with Israel as they celebrate 75 years as a modern nation this May.

God has turned the page from judgement to restoration, blessing, and favor for Israel. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and wisdom for her leaders, especially Prime Minister Netanyahu. Pray that he can steer the ship of state through the rocky waters of internal politics at this time. Also, please continue to pray for rain for the land that the promise will be fulfilled that “the desert will blossom as a rose.”

This year in Jerusalem! September 5-15

Is Zionist a Dirty Word?

15 06 2020

star in heart1

A hundred years ago, the word Zion was a positive word sung in many of our hymns, like: “We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion; we’re marching upward to Zion, the beautiful city of God.” They named churches, schools, towns, and even a national park after Zion, but not so much anymore. The meaning of the word has been sullied and made into a curse word. Anti-Israel propaganda has changed the public perception of the word. No wonder, when it is now used like this: Dirty Zionist, Zionist pigs, Zionist apes, Zionist liars, Zionist occupiers, imperialist Zionists, and racist Zionists. Whew! With this avalanche of epithets, no wonder the average person is confused. (Intro to Blessing Israel)

Yet, I am honored to call myself a Zionist, a Christian Zionist,a Biblical Zionist. The historical prophetic meaning is made clear in over 150 Bible verses. That is the only way to understand that Yehovah God Himself is the number one Zionist. It is not primarily a political term, but a spiritual fact of God’s love and purpose for the land and people of Israel. Here are just a few verses, if you want to know Yehovah God’s heart for Zion.

King on Zion: “Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.” Psalm 2:6

God dwells in Zion: Sing praises to Yehovah, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people. Psalm 9:11

Captives return to Zion: Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Yehovah brings back the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad. Psalm 14:7

Zion joy of whole earth: Great is Yehovah, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain. Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.  God is in her palaces; He is known as her refuge. Psalm 48:1-3

Favor Zion: You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come. For Your servants take pleasure in her stones, and show favor to her dust. So the nations shall fear the name of Yehovah, and all the kings of the earth Your glory. For Yehovah shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. Psalm 102:13-16

God rests in Zion: For Yehovah has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place: “This is My resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.” Psalm 132:13-14

Salvation in Zion: I bring My righteousness near, it shall not be far off; My salvation shall not linger. And I will place salvation in Zion, for Israel My glory. Isaiah 46:13

Ransomed return to Zion: So the ransomed of Yehovah shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11

Zeal for Zion: So the angel who spoke with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says Yehovah of hosts: “I am zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with great zeal.“ Again proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says Yehovah of hosts:“My cities shall again spread out through prosperity; Yehovah will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem.”Zechariah 1:14, 17

Cornerstone in Zion: Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.” 1 Peter 2:6

Pray for favor for Zion and peace for Jerusalem!

Yes, Time to Favor Zion

20 10 2019

FB_IMG_1571508973945

My sojourn in Idaho has been abundantly blessed with renewed confirmation of Yehovah God’s perfect timing. I see it in the anointed ministry all around this month, but mostly every time I look at the favor on Israel.

I have spoken on Psalm 102 with greater clarity each time. The Holy Spirit confirms over and over the graphic description of the the Holocaust in that Psalm. That is why I call it: The Holocaust Psalm. Yet, the message is not one of despair because it leaps to the fruit of six million seeds of martyrs for their faith. Verse thirteen shouts the glorious news that God turns the page to favor, blessings and restoration. I maintain that the full prophetic meaning of this Psalm could only be grasped after the Holocaust.

A people who did not win a war from 70 AD to 1948, have not lost a war from 1948 to the present. Why? FAVOR! The time to favor Zion has come. We are eyewitnesses to the amazing evidence. They got their nation back, their land back, their language back, their capital city back and more! They are the technology start-up nation. They have made wonderful breakthroughs in medicine and agriculture. They have discovered trillions of cubic feet of natural gas offshore and are energy independent. I could go on.

It is my awesome honor to proclaim the mighty works of God in Israel from city to city, from state to state and in other countries. We are truly living in the Biblical time of restoration. Hallelujah! Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. Acts 3:19-21

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and give thanks for this week’s rains! Also, pray for Canada’s election:

Jerusalem recognition on the table in Canadian federal election – Poll show dead heat as pro-Israel Conservative aims to unseat PM Justin Trudeau. Challenger vows to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital.

Tisha B’Av – Destruction of the Temples

31 07 2017

Dry BonesTisha B'Av 2017

Israel Police and Border Police are being deployed in large numbers in the Old City of Jerusalem to protect worshipers at the Western Wall for the fast of Tisha B’Av, which began tonight (Monday).

The fast, which takes place annually on the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av, commemorates the destruction of the two Holy Temples by the Babylonian and Roman empires in 586 BCE and 70 CE, respectively. Religious Jews read the Book of Lamentations written by the Prophet Jeremiah who lived through the First Temple destruction. INN

You might consider reading Lamentations tonight.

There are five major calamities that overtook the Jewish people that are remembered on the 9th of Av:

1 The Twelve Spies sent by Moses to observe the land of Canaan returned from their mission. Only two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, brought a positive report, while the others spoke disparagingly about the land. The majority report caused the Children of Israel to cry, panic and despair of ever entering the “Promised Land”. For this, they were punished by the God of Israel so that none of their generation would enter the land of Israel. (See Numbers 13-14)

2 The First Temple built by King Solomon, King over the Kingdom of Judah, destroyed by the Babylonians led by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BCE, after a two-year siege the Israelites were sent into the Babylonian exile for 70 years.

3 The Second Temple built by Ezra and Nehemiah was destroyed by the Romans in August 70 CE, scattering the people of Judea and commencing the Jewish exile from the Holy Land.

4 The Romans subsequently crushed the final revolt by the Jewish people called the Bar Kokhba’s revolt. The Romans destroyed the city of Betar, killing over 500,000 Jewish civilians on August 4, 135 CE, the 9th of Av.

5 Following the Bar Kokhba revolt, Roman commander Turnus Rufus plowed under the entire site of the Temple in Jerusalem and the surrounding area, in 135 CE.

Other calamities associated with Tisha B’Av: dates given according to the Gregorian Calendar
• The First Crusade officially commenced on August 15, 1096, killing 10,000 Jews in its first month and destroying Jewish communities in France and the Rhineland.
• The Jews were expelled from England on July 18, 1290.
• The Jews were expelled from France on July 22, 1306 .
• The Jews were expelled from Spain on July 31, 1492.
• Germany entered World War I on August 1–2, 1914, which caused massive upheaval in European Jewry and whose aftermath led to the Holocaust.
• On August 2, 1941, SS commander Heinrich Himmler formally received approval from the Nazi Party for “The Final Solution.” As a result, the Holocaust began during which almost one-third of the world’s Jewish population six million men, women, and children, perished.
• On July 23, 1942, began the mass deportation of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto, en route to Treblinka.
• Most religious communities use Tisha B’Av to mourn the 6,000,000 Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

On the 10th of Av the following events took place:
• AMIA bombing of the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, killing 85 and injuring 300 on 18 July 1994.
• The Israeli disengagement from Gaza, initially scheduled to start on the the 9th Av was delayed a day to start instead on the 10th Av, 15 August 2005, expelling 8000 Jews who lived in Gush Katif. (The above list is from: July 30, 2017 by

MURDEROUS PALESTINIAN MATH: Palestinian terrorist, Omar al-Abed murdered three Jews on Friday night 21 July 2017. This means he will almost certainly be sentenced to more than 30 years in prison. According to the Palestinian Authority compensation law, this entitles him to $3,364 each month, four times what the average Palestinian earns. That’s $40,368 a year, or $1,211,040 for 30 years. Imagine there was a government-sponsored program in America that paid you a million bucks every time you murdered members of another ethnic group. In 2016, 11% of the PA’s budget – $500 million – came from the USA. (Tablet) Pray that Palestinian aid allocations from the USA and Europe will be drastically cut until this abominable practice is ended.

NETANYAHU SAYS KILLER OF THREE FAMILY MEMBERS SHOULD BE EXECUTED: PM Netanyahu this week paid a visit to the Salomon family who lost three family members in a brutal terrorist attack on Friday 21 July 2017, in their home in Halamish and told them he believed the killer deserves to be executed. “It is time to implement the death penalty for terrorists,” Netanyahu said to the family. “It is already in the law-book, requiring a unanimous decision by the judges. My position as prime minister is that in this case, with such a loathsome killer, he needs to be executed. Simple. So that he doesn’t smile anymore.” Netanyahu was referring to the testimony of Tova Salomon who said the terrorist Omar al-Abed smiled before he started stabbing her and family members.(J.Post)
