Emotional worship is under attack. Can God “so loved the world that He gave His son” with no emotion? There is an organized effort on Facebook to mock Christians who worship with any show of emotion. They are belittled and rejected with contempt and disdain. What hypocrisy! You can go crazy at a football game, a concert, a bar, a dance club, or for no reason at all. But if you raise your hands or dance or shout in worship you are weird and worthy of scorn. Why is that?
Admittedly, there is a bit of tradition passed down from previous generations that worship is reverent and almost silent as in this children’s rhyme: “Quaker meeting has begun; No more laughing, no more fun. If you show your teeth or tongue, you must pay a forfeit.” Revering God is essential, but we should flow with Him in all His attributes. There is a time for silence, but there is also a time for ecstatic celebration. When it really hits you how much He loves you and how great He is, you just may feel like shouting, or dancing. The Facebook mockers jeer in their smug arrogance, but a simple cliche applies. “You had to be there!” They reveal their ignorance of God the Holy Spirit so connecting you with His glory that you sincerely want to “emote.” You can always grab a video out of context, but they know nothing of experiencing a living encounter with the Creator of the universe! They have never been in the Prescence of God where they were honestly moved to joy in every fiber of their being. I pray that they would. Is it Biblical? God Himself gladly rejoices and loves us so much that He sings over us!
“Yehovah your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”Zephaniah 3:17
At one moment you may be ecstatic and the next you may be weeping in surrender. There are also certainly moments of speechless awe. Don’t limit God. Experience all you can of Him in His magnificent fulness of glory. Here is a verse revealing that God’s love is like a groom’s love for His bride. The context here is the restoration of Israel! God is emotional!
“You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For Yehovah delights in you, And your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you.”Isaiah 62:4-5
“Oh come, let us sing to Yehovah! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For Yehovah is the great God, and the great King above all gods.”Psalm 95:1-3
“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,”Ephesians 5:18-20
“Make a joyful shout to Yehovah, all you lands! Serve Yehovah with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that Yehovah, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”Psalm 100:1-3
Not all will respond to God the same, but please find that connection where you can worship feely with all you being!

Fears that come from conspiracy theories are fundamentally flawed. Whether they come from left or right wing sources, from government, from medicine, or even from Christian sources, if they produce panic or dread, run from them. This post is just a simple appeal based on Scripture. Don’t think like everyone else!
Ancient Israel was under threat from the Assyrians and God gave Isaiah a crystal clear instruction that applies today.

Don’t think like everyone else! Fear is a spirit, and it is not from God.
