Jerusalem Day!

Today, Israel and Jews everywhere, along with Christian Zionists are celebrating 56 years since the liberation of Jerusalem in the miracle Six Day War of 1967. Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem in Gentile hands which happened in 70AD. But He also prophesied the liberation of Jerusalem from Gentiles that happened in 1967. Jerusalem is the eternal undivided capital of Israel. It has never been the capital of any other nation. Yehovah God is faithful to keep His promises!

“Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. They shall be My people, and I will be their God; then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me. Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with all My soul.’” Jeremiah 32:37-41

“I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not!” and “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:1&29

Jerusalem back in the hands of Israel is as important as the rebirth of Israel in 1948. Israeli sovereignty over the entire city is extraordinary given the nearly 2,000 years of persecution and wandering among the nations. Only God could have performed the miracle redemption of Jerusalem. And the best news is that He is working in their hearts so they will never depart from Him again! Wow! It is an everlasting covenant with them based not on their behavior, but His will and His grace. He will rejoice over them to do them good and plant them in His Land! We see this with our own eyes. Hallelujah! God is faithful.

“At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of Yehovah, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of Yehovah, to Jerusalem. No more shall they follow the dictates of their evil hearts.” Jeremiah3:17

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and seasonal rains.

Foreign armies pillaged, slaughtered and raped her, yet her name has remained on our lips three times a day in our prayers. The restoration of Jerusalem is not happening by the will of man, but by the eternal purpose of God Himself. The nations will rage. Politicians will oppose Him, but Yehovah God of Israel will certainly keep His word to His beloved people, Israel.

This is what Yehovah says: “You have said, ‘This is a desolate land where people and animals have all disappeared.’ Yet in the empty streets of Jerusalem and Judah’s other towns, there will be heard once more the sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to Yehovah. They will sing, ‘Give thanks to Yehovah of Heaven’s Armies, for Yehovah is good. His faithful love endures forever!’ For I will restore the prosperity of this land to what it was in the past,” says Yehovah. Jeremiah 33:10-11 NLT

Pray for the restoration and peace of Jerusalem and pray for rain.

Ready for our Israel Tour!

Two weeks from today we fly to Israel with 30 folks for the experience of a lifetime. Doreen and I are honored to lead the group who are mostly first-timers. Even though this is my fifteenth time, I still feel just like this sweet little girl. I always feel like a salmon returning to its spawning grounds. Jerusalem is the center of the earth and the center of God’s redemptive purpose. When the Messiah comes, He is not coming to Washington, DC or New York or London or Rome or Mecca or anywhere else. He is coming to Jerusalem.

I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,’ says Yehovah your God. Amos 9:14-15 ESV

If you want your prayers answered, pray what Yehovah has already said He will do.
