Today is Shavuot holiday in Israel. Christians celebrate it as Pentecost and relate the timing of the promise of the Father which is the fulness of the Holy Spirit. The Jewish Shavuot celebrates the giving of the law or Torah to Moses on Mt. Sinai. Christian Zionists celebrate both, and understand the importance of both. One gave us the written word of Yehovah God; and the other gave us the living voice of God by His Spirit.
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
“Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. Acts 2:1-4,33
The Bible is the written standard for our faith and beliefs, but we need the active Holy Spirit for our daily walk with God. It changes from only academic teaching to relational guidance. Every inclination of the Spirit must be examined by Scripture. But the good news is that we have more than the dry letter of the Word, we have a relationship with the One who gave the written words.
“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3:5-6
Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the Holy Spirit to be poured out on every heart. Also, please continue to pray for Netanyahu’s arms to be held up for complete victory over Hamas.
