Protesters or Vandals?

Israel has experienced left-wing protests against the conservative government for 22 Saturdays. That is their right, Israel is a free country. However, I want to highlight a problem with words used. This is also true of the left in the U.S.  This is just one small point of clarity, but applies beyond this singular incident. It may appear unimportant, but consider the following headline in Israel.

Protesters steal monument to PM’s father – A monument to Benzion Netanyahu was replaced with a banner calling him ‘Father of the Dictator’.

This headline demonstrates the hijacking of words. Just as the gay movement hijacked the rainbow symbol of God’s promise, the left is changing the definition of ordinary words. The act described in the above article would properly be called vandalism. Yet, using the term protester legitimizes the act. This is wrong. Vandalism is against the law. When peaceful protest crosses over the line to lawlessness it is no longer legitimate. Just as we must stand strong for Biblical morality, we must also reject the theft and perversion of normal word definitions. Little foxes spoil the vines.

“Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.”  Song of Songs 2:15

Prime Minister Netanyahu is a fair target for criticism, but to desecrate the memory of his father is just wrong, especially while committing an illegal act. For the record, his father was almost universally loved and respected by all Israelis. He was directly involved in the formation of the nation in the 1940’s, and helped persuade the United States under President Truman to be the first to recognize the new Israeli state in 1948.

“Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips will come right things; For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; Nothing crooked or perverse is in them.”  Proverbs 8:6-8

“And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”  Acts 2:40

Speak truth from a pure and honest heart. Follow the example of Jesus, who is Truth! Perversion is not only a sexual problem, it even affects our communication. Call it out when someone twists the meaning of words. Stand for clarity. Teach your children the importance of words.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and rain in season. Also remember to pray for PM Netanyahu.
