Nakba Fizzle

Topic #1  Don’t Stop Praying Just Yet

The much ballyhooed march on Israel today pretty much fizzled relative to their call for two million to march. That is certainly an answer to prayer. Yet several thousand Muslims did attempt to violate Israel’s territorial sovereignty from Syria, Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank. Also, there were Nakba demonstrations in Jordan, Egypt and even within Israel.

Muslims commemorate what they call Nakba, their “catastrophe or disaster” when Israel became a nation on May 15, 1948. Someone has observed, however, that the real catastrophe was the systematic genocide of six million Jews in Hitler’s War.

Yet, it is certainly not over, The protest’s success, however limited will only serve to make them more demanding. We are in perilous times. There will be more tragedies to come. Pray for Jerusalem’s peace.

Topic #2  At the End of the Day—or Night?

At the end of the day….is an overused cliché. I am tired of hearing it from pundits every day on cable news. But, I was thinking about it this week and realized a small word from the Lord. We are not near the end of the day, we are at the end of the night! There are lots of great scripture references to support my point. One of my favorites is: For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).

We are at the darkest part of the night before the dawn. Rather than fearing the darkness, I listen for the life sounds in the night. Tree frogs, crickets, locusts, owls and other night life fill the forest. Last night, Doreen and I had a dinner date and sat in our car for 15 minutes listening to a mocking-bird sing at least a dozen different beautiful songs. Then, when we went to check our mail, we were treated to a family of seven deer out for a walk. They startled a bunny, right in the middle of town. This is our Father’s world, Jesus is coming soon!

The violence of the wicked will destroy them. Proverbs 21:7

I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and batter the brow of Moab, and destroy all the sons of  tumult. and Edom shall be a possession; Seir also, his enemies, shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly. Numbers 23:17-18
