Are you waiting for your “ship to come in?” Is your life “on hold” until some future change happens? The Bible gives specific guidance for that problem. What are you waiting for? … a husband? a wife? finances? retirement? graduation, empty nest? healing? a new assignment? a new or better job? bigger responsibilities? not old enough? too old? Many make the same mistake of sitting on the sidelines UNTIL something, or anything!
Lately, I have been hearing from the Lord to live this life I have now, not wait for the big change, whatever that is. If only these (fill in the blank) things finally happen, THEN I will start living! BIG MISTAKE! That is a trap, you are not really living. You are just treading water. Rise up and live! Function now, in your present circumstances. God is with us! Here are just a few of His reminders to provoke us to live His abundant life.
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”Psalm 16:11
“This is the day Yehovah has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”Ecclesiastes 9:11
Do not live in the past and do not live in the future. We live our faith in a dysfunctional world. It is time to live our life in the present. God is with us! He lives in the eternal present. What we hope for will come in due season and proper order according to the will of God. Trust Him! Live now! Here are a few more guidelines from Our Father above:
“Commit your way to Yehovah, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in Yehovah, and wait patiently for Him;”Psalm 37:5-7a
“…in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”1 Thessalonians 5:18
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”Colossians 3:23-24
