Batteries not included. Last night in our home Bible study we were in Hebrews 10. There is a familiar verse there that I call the Lego verse. My grandson, Canyon, is quite skilled at putting together very complicated Lego spaceships. In our discussion of this verse, we saw a new tweak on the traditional interpretation of gathering together.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25
The Greek word for assembling is “epi-synogogue” which clearly indicates a gathering. But we saw a little more insight last night. God by His Holy Spirit is also in the process of assembling us together as one would a Lego model. Each piece has a special fit to another piece to complete the whole. We are not alone, and are not purposed to stand alone. The Kingdom of God is relational. We are joined to one another according to His purpose.
Oh, and about batteries? God does much better. He even beats solar cells. We are designed with a wireless connection to Heaven cells for Yehovah’s eternal power supply. So remember to obey both levels of this verse. Gather together with other believers to stir up love and good works; but also yield to Jesus for His placement as He builds His Church to smash the gates of hell.
but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:15-16
