Lovers of Death

9 06 2012

For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from Yehovah; But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those who hate me love death. Proverbs 8:35-36

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

What a contrast between life and death is presented in the Bible. Could there be real people today who hate God so much that they love death? The answer, sadly, is yes. My point is clearly made by Hamas, in the Gaza Strip. Hamas speaks for all fundamentalist Islam in the following quote from Hamas leader, Fathi Hammad, in this speech:

“The enemies of All-h do not know that the Palestinian people has developed its methods of death and death-seeking. For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry, at which women excel, and so do all the people living on this land. The elderly excel at this, and so do the mujahideen and the children. This is why they have formed human shields of the women, the children, the elderly, and the mujahideen, in order to challenge the Zionist bombing machine. It is as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: “We desire death like you desire life.” (Click for video)

This is the product of the Hamas culture of death. It is the opposite of the heart of the God of Israel.

For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord Yehovah. “Therefore turn and live!”  Ezekiel 18:32

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live! that you may love Yehovah your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which Yehovah swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.  Deuteronomy 30:19-20
