The three great monotheistic world religions disagree sharply on one profound point. Is Jesus the son of God? Jews and Muslims say no. Christians say yes. Three weeks ago I wrote about Islam denying the deity of Jesus. The Koran repeatedly denies that their god has any son at all. Jews also deny that Jesus (Yeshua) is God’s son. Here are two key Old Testament quotes that clearly state that Yehovah God has a Son.
“Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, If you know?” Proverbs 30:4
Jews (or at least the Rabbis) know Yehovah’s name but decline to say it out loud. Christians know Jesus’ name but few know that God’s covenant name is Yehovah (or Jehovah, or Yahweh). But still, Proverbs clearly refers to the Son. Another reference to the Son is in Psalm 2; where God’s Son is mentioned twice (verses 7 & 12). Rabbis do not take these verses literally. I do. The good news is that most Jews will eventually recognize Yeshua as the Messiah and God’s Son. Also, Many millions of Muslims will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus the Son.
“I will declare the decree: Yehovah has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.'” Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Psalm 2:7 & 12
Notice that verse 12 ends with blessing on all who trust Him! Likewise, Proverbs also follows the declaration of Sonship with a blessing for those who trust in Him, in verse 5.
“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” Proverbs 30:5
Trust God, believe in His Son. Kiss the Son, worship Him; and Yehovah will be your shield!
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Why do I use God’s literal covenant Name: Yehovah? Here is a link to the explanation in my book: The Hebrew God Who Has No Name. And here is a link to a great visual from my friend Keith Johnson.
